The smallest recorded war hero was a 4-pound Yorkie named Smoky. She bravely participated in 12 combat missions and earned eight battle stars, notably for her daring feat of crawling 70 feet through a narrow, dirt-filled culvert to deliver a crucial wire. Smoky is also recognized as the first therapy dog, dedicating 12 years to visiting and comforting wounded soldiers during and after the war.❤
