*borrowed from a friend. A piece of the truth*
I have seen several posts over the last year commenting on breeders prices and the cost of puppies.. I want to make something very clear and address this…, This is not a debate of any kind, these are just factual pieces of information that I wish everyone would remember before making such comments.
I think everyone needs to have an understanding that over the last several years-look at the price of inflation overall. Everything that you purchase and everything that you do. Vets are more expensive, dog food is more expensive, gas is more expensive, housing is more expensive, medicines are more expensive, wormers are more expensive, puppy pads are more expensive,,, the list goes on and on. What we paid for overall in our economy five years ago or even three years ago is definitely not what we’re paying today and that is going to be reflected in breeding programs just like it is reflected in everything you see all around you every day. Not to mention the standards of breeding has changed tremendously over the years with the help of science which is also extraordinarily costly. I think people forget that they are OK with everything changing around them but they don’t realize that a dog they paid for five years ago has tons of added expenses with that breeder just like we do every day with our kids, on the cost of supporting them and raising them. In the end of the day, a breeder is making no more money today then they were five years ago. If anything- they’re losing more money. I really wish people would stop and be realistic when I hear these comments.
Just remember, you can always get a cheaper puppy but you get what u pay for.
