Silicon Valley Pet Project is a nonprofit organization committed to saving animals who are at risk in our local municipal shelter. SVPP was established in 2014 by a team of like-minded professionals who came together with a vision to change the face of animal rescue in Silicon Valley. Our organization is focused on creating solutions that are repeatable and scalable. We’re inspired by national mod

els such as No-Kill Los Angeles and Austin Pets Alive!, and we bring passion and know-how to our community. Our five year plan includes procuring a facility to supplement our foster home network, as well as providing a valuable resource for pet guardians in our community. We envision this facility as a community center offering support services, obedience and behavioral training, educational opportunities, volunteer training, etc. SVPP opened The Dancing Cat, an adoption center for adult cats, in May, 2016. The Dancing Cat is the first step toward our goal of having a full-service community center in Silicon Valley. www.thedancingcat.org

Honey is a young Chihuahua mix with a heart as big as her holiday sweater! 💖 She’s great with other dogs, super affectionate with people, and likely fine with cats too. Honey came to us as a stray with 6 other dogs, and while she’s still finding her confidence in foster care, she would absolutely thrive in a home with other social dogs to show her the ropes.

We can’t believe this sweet, loving pup hasn’t received any adoption applications yet—she truly is the definition of sweet! 🥰

The last Reading with Dogs of 2024 is this Thursday, December 19th!
This Thursday, we are back with our free community program, Reading with Dogs! Join us this Thursday, and on every 3rd Thursday of the month from 4:30pm to 5:30pm for a fun and heartwarming hour of reading with our furry friends from Furry Friends Assisted Therapy Services.
This is a fantastic opportunity for kids to practice reading in a relaxed environment while enjoying the company of gentle, loving therapy dogs.

When SVPP rescued sweet Jody from the Santa Clara County Shelter, we discovered her undiagnosed limp was due to a congenital elbow defect. Thanks to Dr. Fitch at Beacon Veterinary Specialists and our partners at VCA Blossom Hill, this week Jody had the surgery she needed and is on her way to a pain-free life! 💕 She’s now rehabbing with her foster family and will soon start her forever adventure.

Sweet senior pibble, Kylo (#A1079573) has been waiting at @adoptapetsj since June for someone to notice what an amazing dog he is. On his most recent #svppdogdayout he got to visit the park and go for a great car ride! Kylo's walker tells us, "Kylo is such a catch! Though approaching his “senior” pittie years, this guy is still full of life and comes with all the love and affection to prove it. Kylo greeted me with full body wiggles, adding a couple of minutes to get him harnessed up but, can’t blame the guy for being excited to meet new people and out of his kennel for the morning. Quintin (#A1332409) has been at @adoptapetsj since March and we can't figure out why. This sweet boy loves hanging out with his human pals! We asked Quintin about his latest #svppdogdayout and he told us about his great morning, "Today I got out of the shelter and went on a 6 mile run, PLUS I got lots and lots of cuddles from my new friend... I LOVE to go on car rides so I was excited to jump into the car and sat in the middle to navigate most of our drive. My friend let me sniff around at the park for a bit, then we got into our run. During our water breaks, I leaned into my friend and got some epic butt scratches; I couldn’t help but melt into his lap. My friend also pulled out a tennis ball for me to catch… another one of my favorite activities! I was told I was such a good boy, and was rewarded with the biggest pup cup to finish out our morning together; YUM!" Quintin is a VERY GOOD BOY. Sometimes the best thing in the world is watching a former shelter dog play 🥰 Sweet Lucy landed in the shelter back in June with bite wounds on her head and neck that resulted in nerve damage that causes her head to tilt just a bit. Thanks to a loving foster, Lucy is now learning the joys of playing with toys in her own yard and starting to recover from the taumas of her injuries and long shelter stay. Folks don't often think about food toys for kittens, but for Monkey and Dot, who tend to eat too quickly, these little food balls provide brain exercise, entertainment, and nutrition, while also slowing down their eating! Ariel's Happy Reunion

We’re thrilled to share Ariel’s incredible story! This sweet pup was reunited with her original family thanks to the power of social media and a caring community. Ariel had landed in the shelter, lost and alone, when SVPP rescued her and named her Charlotte Rose, hoping to find her a forever home. Little did we know, her true family was still searching for her. One day, they spotted her photo online and immediately reached out, certain that Charlotte Rose was their beloved Ariel. Their reunion? Full of tail wags, kisses, and happy tears. ❤️ Thank you to everyone who shared her story and helped bring Ariel back to those who love her most. This is the magic of community. 🐾 Thanks to our friends at Capitol Subaru for hosting the event that brought this family back together!
