Gus Gus here, just popping in to remind you that New Year's Eve can be a bit overwhelming for cats, so let's keep them safe! 🐱

Make sure your cats are wearing a collar and tag displaying current contact information. This way, if they become lost or frightened, it will be easier to get them back to you! Microchipping your pet also increases the chances of being reunited with them. Let's start the New Year off right, with happy and secure pets! 🐾

During the festivities, it is important to provide hiding spaces for cats in case they become overwhelmed by the commotion. This allows them to retreat and feel safe. Additionally, stress can make cats uneasy, so it is advisable to instruct guests, especially small children, to leave the cat alone if it is hiding or acting fearful. Respecting the cat's need for space can help keep everyone safe and ensure a more peaceful environment for all. ❤

Kittens like Gus Gus enter our shelter daily, most of them head into loving foster homes where they can receive proper care and vetting before they are ready for adoption, to support our mission please consider donating here: https://www.clover.com/pay-widgets/9ff1e497-77c5-4eee-a6d2-85f1dcd8ab08

Meet Tiger! 🐯 His striped coat resembles that of a tiger, hence his name! He is a loving and friendly two year old who adores being around people. With his affectionate nature and eye-catching appearance, Tiger is sure to win your heart! ❤️ Lets hope that the coming New Year brings Tiger the family he deserves!

It's New Year's Eve and we wanted to share some pet safety tips...

1. The loud noises from fireworks and celebrations may cause dogs and cats to panic and attempt to escape from the comfort of their homes. By inspecting and reinforcing your fences, doors, and windows, you can significantly reduce the risk of your pets running away.

2. Create a calming environment during the celebrations. Play soothing music, leave the TV on, turn a fan on, or use a white noise machine. These sounds can help distract pets from the loud noises outside.

3. It is essential to ensure that your pet is always wearing some form of identification on their collar. This includes tags with up-to-date contact information and a microchip that has been registered and updated with your current details. By taking these precautionary measures, you significantly increase the chances of being reunited with your furry family member in the unfortunate event that they go missing. Remember, a well-identified pet is a safer pet!

Tiger is one of many strays who enter our shelter and aren't reclaimed, while he waits to be adopted, our shelter staff provide him with the proper care and love. Your End-of-Year gift makes an impact in the lives of these pets, consider making a donation today: https://www.clover.com/pay-widgets/9ff1e497-77c5-4eee-a6d2-85f1dcd8ab08

During the holiday season, it is important to be aware of the potential dangers that certain plants can pose to our furry companions. Plants like poinsettias, mistletoe, holly, and pine are commonly used for decorations. These plants can be harmful if ingested by pets. To ensure their safety, it is best to keep these plants out of reach or consider using artificial versions. 🎄

For more information on toxic and non-toxic plants, you can visit: https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control/toxic-and-non-toxic-plants

Our Story

We are a group of 100% dedicated Volunteers who are focused on helping decrease euthanasia rates in shelters, primarily in Stanislaus County. Thanks to the gracious people in our community, we are able to provide abandoned, neglected dogs, cats, and rabbits temporary foster homes living among people while our furry friends wait for their adoption day! All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea treated, and have age-appropriate vaccines. Our animals receive veterinary care by various licensed veterinarians throughout Stanislaus County should any medical conditions become present.

We strive to engage our community and help educate people on the importance of spay/neuter, animal training, microchipping, and TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return). Through our Pet Food Pantry, we are also able to provide food to low-income residents and homeless people that have cats and dogs; we also do a free shot clinic each spring.
