Debbie's 4 Dogs Mission: To help first time or seasoned dog parents, my caring training is mostly for the humans. 🐾 If it doesn’t feel right to you, it’s not.

When it comes to connecting and building trust with your new puppy older dog or rescue, Debbie's 4 Dogs is not founded on the belief of "one size fits all" approach. Instead, my positive coaching philosophy instills that every one-of-a-kind dog should have a one-of-a-kind program. The one thing you will find is always the same for all is behavior modification or training done with kindness, caring

, respect and a true love for the dogs. Be their advocate always. Truly the training is for the humans

Yesterday and today I saw clients who were using these instruments of torture.
They were told to use them by their previous “trainers”
They were told that they didn’t hurt.
They hurt and damage the delicate neck, the thyroid gland, the trachea….many get terrible arthritis in their neck as they age, from this equipment.

I train humans.
I train humans to treat their dogs with kindness, love and care.

Does pain and intimidation work?
You bet it does.

Does the little boy threatened with a beating clean up his room before his dad gets home? Of course.

Does the little boy down the street clean up his room just as well when his dad promises a hot fudge sundae if he gets it accomplished?

I don’t know. Maybe the little boy who is threatened cleans up his room better? Maybe the boy excited to get a hot fudge sundae does a better job?

One relationship will leave the child living in a state of fear. Emotional scars will last.
Nobody wants to live their life afraid of what’s around the corner.
Nobody should want to inflict this on their dog.

I want my dogs to be happy and excited when I walk in the door. Happy about what fun we will have and what wonderful thing we will do next. Not afraid about what will happen and what pain will be inflicted.

Can’t believe this kind of stuff still goes on, but it does.
It’s not OK. It does hurt.
It really really does.
❤️‍🩹🐾

Grateful to have made a difference today.
We can’t help every dog, but for those that we do help, by training and educating their humans, their lives have been changed forever.

“What’s the hardest part about having a dog?” they asked, their tone casual, like it was just another question.

I glanced at the worn leash hanging by the door, my chest tightening. “Letting them go,” I said quietly.

They frowned a little, waiting for me to explain. “They come into your life like they were always meant to be there,” I said, trying to find the words. “They make everything better—simpler, brighter. And you think it’s always going to be that way. But it’s not. One day, they’re gone, and you’re left with all the space they used to fill.”

They nodded, but I wasn’t sure they understood. “It’s not the messes they made or the routines you have to let go of,” I continued. “It’s the absence. You walk into the house, and it feels... wrong. The quiet is heavier. The mornings don’t feel the same without them nudging you awake.”

“So why do it?” they asked, their voice softer this time.

I sighed, glancing down at my hands. “Because the love they give you is worth every bit of the heartache. They teach you how to love without holding back, even when you know it’s going to hurt in the end. And you keep choosing that love because you know it’s one of the best things you’ll ever feel.”

This from a lady who worked with shelter dogs.
Her and her colleagues decided to try out a shock collar:

I was very surprised at how shocking it was to my brain and my body even my ears were ringing. We did it without notice. Co worker would just hit the button when we talked. At random! We all got a good laugh....kinda. But my laughter turned to tears that night, I could only think of the effects I saw in some of the dogs! It all started to add up. The frustration, their fear and the lack or loss of trust I had experienced with collar wearing dogs. It might not bring you to your knees but it will have an effect on your mind if you love dogs.

Please say no to shock, prong and choke chains.
Please say no to intimidation and fear.
Please say no to cruel, unethical and inhumane treatment of our family members with 4 legs.

I met this beautiful 3 year old girl today.
Used as a breeder. They cut off her ears and took her babies.
So glad that she found such a loving and caring home. 🏠
She is the most forgiving girl.
Loves all humans still.
Rescue a dog.
She will appreciate you so much.

I often wonder why people say they love their dogs like they were family and yet will follow underqualified 'trainers' instructions to punish their dogs.

It makes absolutely no sense, unless, of course, 'love' has a very different meaning in their world.

Being told to pin your dog, yell at them, yank their collar and all other similar 'methods' seems to me to be a sign that I should take my dog and run from that person.

And yet, I see videos of people standing watching a 'trainer' abusing their dog.

Can we make 2025 the year that this is finally seen for what it is? It's not training, it's not tough love or any other pathetic excuse given.

Ever hopeful and optimistic that people will begin to see dogs in a different light.
