Meet Halley!

Halley is a 13-year-old Puggle who loves to be with her people! After breakfast, mornings are for sleeping, but afternoons are the time to check out what's going on in the neighborhood. Although Halley learned to use the doggie door at her foster home very quickly, she doesn't like to be away from her people. She is very healthy, house-trained, and low maintenance for an elderly dog.

Halley is a spry, old gal who will jump on and off the furniture at her leisure, but will use a ramp if it's available. She has a lot of energy for her age and was well taken care of by her previous owner. She enjoys going on daily walks and tends to be indifferent to people and pets along the way.

Halley has not interacted with a lot of younger children, but when she first arrived at her foster home did not like to be touched on her backside. It's probably best that her forever home have older children or a couple who can walk her and be patient with her quirks.

She does enjoy being petted on her head and has warmed up to full-back pets too, but is still cautious and watchful. There have been a few times she has ventured to lick her foster parent's faces but very lightly. Halley is not a cuddler but wants to be in the room with her humans at all times. If you leave and she cannot follow, she will whine a bit, otherwise she is quiet and stays close.

Just like a pug, this girl loves her food! She will tell you when it's breakfast or dinner time, plus will stalk you in the kitchen when making food. But she is never aggressive about food and is well-mannered. Halley loves to chew and has taken to chewing on bully sticks to occupy her time!

Meet Pepe

Pepe is a 10-year-old, sweet puggle boy who likes to cuddle, sleep, and spend time in the sunshine. Each morning you will find him lounging in a sun spot inside or outside. Plus he loves to go on walks.

Pepe has not interacted with a lot of younger children at his foster home, but is very lovable and calm around people. He will cuddle up with you on the couch, especially wrapped in a blanket, and loves to be rubbed.

When Pepe meets other dogs he seems aggressive at first, barking and showing his hackles, but once he gets a chance to get close and make a few passes he will calm down. He likes to make new dog friends, but is fine doing his own thing as well. He has lived most of his life with a female dog and he doesn't seem to pay her much attention, so would be fine alone or with other dogs in a home.

He is a healthy puggle who can jump on and off furniture and will walk quickly when out and about on his leash. He has no health issues, was well taken care of by his previous owner, and is house trained. No accidents! At his foster home he learned how to use a doggie door within his first day, and that's when they found out his love for being outside in the sunshine. Rain is a whole different story though!

Pepe is not food obsessed like many pugs, but will join in when other dogs are sounding the dinner alarm. He enjoys treats and will chew methodically on a bully stick to occupy his time.

If you'd like to apply to adopt Pepe, please submit your adoption application by visiting our website. https://copugrescue.org/adopt-a-pug/

If you already have an application on file with us, please email the adoption coordinator. You would have received an email from them confirming receipt of your application at the time of submission.

ADOPTED !!
Meet Jacob 🥹

Jacob is a two-year-old purebred pug with a horrific past he keeps locked away, but his tender heart and cautious spirit tell a story of hardship. His journey to safety began in the most heartbreaking way—abandoned in a closed box on the Texas/Mexico border. A kind stranger, noticing the box shifting along the highway, stopped and found him, and contacted the rescue to take him. Little did Jacob know that this was a gift in that it gave him a second chance at the love he had never known.

Jacob’s past has left him with quirks that speak volumes. If he feels cornered—like in a crate—he may lash out in fear, protecting himself the only way he knows how: with growling and snapping. He struggles with being told “no,” especially when his instincts tell him to mark, though he’s making progress with a belly band and patient guidance. Our guess is that he was abused when he marked, so he’s afraid he’s going to be hurt.

Despite it all, he wants nothing more than to be loved. He follows his people everywhere, afraid of losing something good. He gives occasional kisses, and loves to rub all over you in the silliest way.

This sweet boy has endured unimaginable pain, including a debilitating inoperable injury to his leg. It was broken in a way that the bone shattered, and when it healed, it healed with fibrous tissue instead of bone. While he uses it now, there is a chance he may need amputation in the future. But Jacob doesn’t let his past define him—he’s learning to trust, to hope, and to embrace joy. Most importantly though, he’s learning to give and receive love.

He loves curling up in your lap, gazing at you with soulful, adoring eyes. He’s discovering the magic of toys, something he had never known before. He eagerly learns new things, sitting beautifully for treats and enjoying his daily walks. He finds comfort in his crate at bedtime but would just as happily sleep by your side, knowing he is finally safe.

Jacob is great with other dogs and even cats, but because of his past trauma and sensitivity, he cannot be placed in a home with children. His ideal family will be patient, understanding, and committed to continuing his journey of healing. He requires a home with experienced pet parents who are familiar with reactive dogs and knowledgeable in behavioral training methods. His future family must be willing to continue working with him to build his confidence and trust in a kind, structured, and loving environment.

Jacob is a work in progress, not by his own doing, but because of the cruelty he has endured. Yet, thanks to the kindness of strangers, he now has a fresh start—a chance to be cherished, understood, and truly loved. He is searching for an adult-only family who will celebrate his playful spirit, respect his boundaries, and nurture his trust.

For the right family, Jacob will be an incredible companion. His past is behind him, and his future is bright. Could you be the one to show him what love truly means?

If you are an experienced pet owner with no children in your home and you'd like to apply to adopt Jacob, please submit your adoption application by visiting our website. https://copugrescue.org/adopt-a-pug/
