Do you remember Nugget? She is still looking for her forever home!

This adorable and spunky girl is named Jacinta, but her foster family fondly calls Nugget. She is a true pug that always wants to be by your side.

She is very friendly with people and great with kids. We are recommending that she be the only dog in the home as she has shown some aggression towards other dogs. Her foster home has 2 other dogs that she has adjusted to and is fine with, but had a few fights with when she first arrived. Nugget is thought to be 3-6 years old and is overall a mellow little girl, but definitely enjoys giving love nibbles while playing.

She only has her left eye, which does not slow her down and she gets around great. Nugget is mostly potty trained, but prefers to hold it until she is taken outside. Even with easy access to outdoors, she will not go out unless with someone. She is spayed, microchipped and current on all of her vaccines. She enjoys going on walks and is great on a leash. If you are looking for a true companion, look no further. Nugget has so much love to give and deserves a great home that will give her so much love in return.

Meet Titan...aka Milo 🥰

Not much is known about Titan's past though he is guessed to be about 8 years old but sometimes has more energy than our puppy. He came into the rescue with the name Titan but we were not found of the name and he didn't seem to like it either. So we’ve been calling him Milo. Milo is a Boston Terrier / Pug mix. (Pug ears, BT coloring and the perfect mix of a snout - adorable but not super short). He is tall & weighs about 28 pounds. He has also just had a dental with just 1 tooth removed and is in great health.

Milo’s his name, Chill is his game.

Milo is a bit awkward with cuddles (maybe never had affection?) we hope it’s finally time for him to be man's best friend. Just add love.
And in return, you’ll get a warm wiggly alarm clock - no need for coffee, just add Milo.

Milo is housebroken, and can generally be given free reign when you are home, but can get naughty when left alone. Does ok in his crate though.

He loves to play with other dogs - especially tug-o-war and is an excellent jumper. He is a quick learner and very loyal with a super chill vibe, even with food & treats. His tail radiates joy - you will always know how excited he is to see you! Milo enjoys car rides, frequent walks of up to 3 miles and truly loves sitting outside in the sun so will appreciate a yard to hang out in.

Looking to expand your family this winter with a sweet, joyful and mischievous pug mix? Drop Milo a bone and let’s see if he’ll give you a high five.

Some other details:
Neutered in Sept 2023
Up to date on shots & vax
Is a bit mouthy (likes to chew on humans)

Wilbert is single and ready to mingle 🥰

Wilbert is a truly delightful middle-aged gentleman (eight years old) who is thriving despite a year of big changes for him! Wilbert was diagnosed with diabetes in April, and then he developed cataracts. Unfortunately, because of the cataracts, Wilbert can no longer see. He seems to have taken all these changes in stride, including the transition into his foster home, which he tolerated considerably well!

Wilbert is super easygoing and gets along with other dogs. He is good with kids and wags his tail in happiness when he gets love from his foster family. He is housetrained and crate trained, though we only use a crate overnight (as a precaution) to keep him safe and secure since he cannot see.

Because of his diabetes, Wilbert would do best with a caregiver who either works from home or is retired. He also must be kept on a regular feeding schedule, with 10-12 hours in between feedings being the ideal schedule for helping to regulate his glucose. Wilbert requires prescription dog food and insulin twice daily after meals. If you have a dog currently, do not let him/her read over your shoulder for this next part: Wilbert should NOT snack between meals. I know. Don’t tell your dog we ever used those words together in that order. It’s heartbreaking, especially for pugs, but Wilbert is a mentally strong puggy and has accepted this as his truth. He has thus taken charge of his health! (But he is *very* happy at feeding time. VERY happy!😆)

In his free time, Wilbert likes short walks, naps, greeting people who come and go, chewing on dog toys, sunbathing, and cuddling. He has no bad habits, and his only accidents occurred when he arrived and had a UTI. Once we treated that with antibiotics, he was back to pottying only outside.

Wilbert is worth every bit of the extra time and money his health situation requires. He pays back in love and snuggles and companionship and tail wags💕 Good boy, Wilbert.

Addie & Bernie are still looking for their forever home! Look at these faces! 🥰

Addy and Bernie are an adorable bonded pair who have been together for 7 years. They are looking for their forever home to enjoy walks with, playing and lying in the sun, and cuddling on the couch.

This sweet pair would prefer older children, and a home with either a calm, smaller dog, or no other dogs in the home. They are ok with cats. They are both kennel trained, and will share the same kennel when needed. Addy loves to wrestle and play with Bernie, and follow the cat around the house.

Addy is a spayed/14 lb., fawn pug mix (possible chihuahua) with a cute personality! She loves to cuddle, but it has to be her choice. She knows simple commands, such as “come, uh-uh, out, kennel, and eat!” She doesn’t like to be picked up, but prefers to follow the command, “come” and be greeted at her level.

Addy has had some anxiety which appears by her barking or growling at her tail/rear end. She may need an occasional check of her a**l glands by a veterinarian. She takes a probiotic supplement one time a day. She does well with a “potty schedule”, and may need to be watched for any “marking”. She is learning to go to the door when she needs to potty.

Bernie is a neutered/20 lb., furry, black pug with a calm/chill personality! He’s the most loving cuddle bug, loves belly rubs, and having his fur brushed. He enjoys wrestling with Addy, and is always by her side. Bernie has 2 old injuries; he was born with a deflated left eye, and his back legs are crooked. Neither injuries impede him at all. Bernie also knows the same simple commands as Addy. Previous concerns with marking in the house have been addressed with a consistent potty schedule. He will go to the door when he needs to go “out”. Bernie has had a**l gland inspissation (thickening of the a**l glands), which has been treated by a Veterinarian. He may benefit from an occasional check-up with a veterinarian. He takes a probiotic supplement one time a day.

Meet Gus! 🥰

Gus is a 2 yr old neutered male. He came to us from Texas and was heartworm positive but has finished all his treatments is cleared! Gus seems to be a pug/ terrier mix. Full of energy! He gets along well with other small dogs (who he’s not intimidated by) and he doesn’t really like cats. He’s great with kids and loves to snuggle on the couch with you. He would be an amazing partner for walks too. He can get a little jealous of other dogs but has learned the No No Gus pretty well. He also can have some separation anxiety and has been known to tear stuff up when you are gone, so he stays in the dog room with the others when we are not home. He is so desperate for someone who wants to love just him. 💜 He’s really a good boy for all he’s been thru.

Meet Leo!

If you've been hoping to add a playful and goofy Pug to your family, Leo is eager to meet you! He's fresh from the Dentist and ready to start a new life in his Forever Home. This handsome boy is between 4-5 years old and was surrendered to Colorado Pug Rescue in July. He was rescued from hoarding situation in Texas when he was just a year old. More recently, his home of three years was full of other dogs; one of them in particular (a Boston Terrier) was NOT Leo's biggest fan. This resulted in some "disputes", and though Leo was never the instigator, he does bear the resulting scars. His Mom there was concerned about her kids possibly getting hurt while breaking up a fight, plus he was having some dominance-related marking issues, so she turned him over to CPR in hopes of finding him a peaceful, conflict-free place to enjoy the Pug life.

Since he was used to having constant access to a doggie door and a fenced yard, it took a while for Leo to learn how to go potty outdoors at his foster home. His accidents were mostly near the small cat door, so he was trying his best to get outside! Leo will often wait until late in the day to go potty, regardless of being taken out often, so he begrudgingly wears a belly band sometimes. His foster Mom has a much easier time getting him to go potty if he is able to move about the yard freely. He doesn't like the leash when it's potty time, and will usually try to gnaw on it. If you're just out for a leisurely stroll, the leash doesn't bother him. For these reasons, Leo's ideal home will have a fenced yard, and ideally, a doggy door that he can access as needed. It will likely take some time for him to adjust, so potty accidents should be expected.

Always curious about his surroundings, Leo loves to explore. He will investigate any area that he can fit into and likes to hang out in small areas with low ceilings, like under a desk or coffee table. But his favorite place to be is with his people! Leo is very affectionate and hopes to share your couch or recliner, as well as your bed. Though he will sleep in his own bed if he's asked to, he'd rather occupy a spot at the foot of the mattress all night long.

Daily extra-strength OTC eye drops will help Leo's dry eyes, and he does have some vision impairment due to pigmentary keratitis. This inability to see clearly sometimes can result in a stumble on the stairs, or barking at someone he knows until they're close enough to smell. Other than daily eye drops, Leo currently has no known health issues and is a sturdy guy who has already lost a whole pound, per Dr.'s orders. He now weighs a svelt 29 lbs.!

One of the most notable things about Leo's personality is his varying moods. Mostly, he's pretty mellow. Sometimes, he's extra loving, sometimes overflowing with energy, and occasionally, he is fearful and shy. He only seems to exhibit signs of fear or apprehension around new people, or in environments with low lighting, presumably because of his reduced vision.

Besides cuddles and attention, Leo loves to play "Catch Me If You Can"; he waits until you get close enough to get him, and then away he goes, zooming around excitedly at top speeds! He always enjoys a good stuffed or squeaky toy and takes care of them, but will happily chew up any toys or treats that are specifically made for chewing. Because he prefers to be close to his people, he will try his hardest to get through a closed door when left alone, so it is recommended that Leo be crated during times when no one is home. He is not food-aggressive and is *mostly* potty trained. As stated, Leo is very unsure of all new people and environments, so it takes him a while to warm up. It is not known how he does with cats, but he's good with other dogs and kids.

If you'd like to apply to adopt Leo, please submit your adoption application by visiting our website. https://copugrescue.org/adopt-a-pug/

If you already have an application on file with us, please email the adoption coordinator. You would have received an email from them confirming receipt of your application at the time of submission.
