Adoptable Harley’s so excited to see all his Halloween friends tonight that he insisted I help him get into his costume at 10:00 this morning. After a few technical issues (I think we had the headpiece on backwards), he got it on and then he wanted a photo shoot.

Introducing Oakley! She is new to the Waterford-East Lyme Animal Control and is ready to go home 💕

Oakley is a 5ish year old American Bulldog. She was found roaming and never claimed by her owners 😥

The shelter staff has been working with her to make her ready for her debut, so here she is, in all her glory!

Oakley is a big girl, pushing 80 pounds, she will need an owner strong enough to hold her leash and one who is active and knowledgeable of large breeds. She would not like to live in a home with cats as they are just too tempting to chase. Oakley will most certainly knock over small children but thinks older kids would be ok. She seems good with other dogs but would like to meet them first before choosing her new home.

She has her rabies shot but she is still intact so her adoption fee is $50.00 which includes a voucher from the state good for $ off getting her spayed and 2 vaccinations. If you might like to meet this pup, call +1 860-442-9451 or email [email protected]

2 donkeys need to be rehomed ( together ). Left: Rosa - teenager - mini donkey - super affectionate and easy to care for - is a little chubby and shouldn’t have the opportunity to eat with other animals whose food she could steal

Right: Gucci - mid 20s/early 30s - standard donkey - loves women and children to pet her over the fence - takes awhile to warm up to people and trust them - wants to be inside a nice warm barn.

Missing in Preston. She is an older girl who if very friendly with some medical issues. She stays close to home however on the 22nd she just disappeared. We are not sure if she went up to someone or wandered into the woods and got lost. She was lounging in the sun and the next moment gone. We are asking everyone in this area to check your yards, woods behind your area and any cameras. We would like to bring her home safely. Please share and keep a look out for her

Adoptable Harley dropped in today at Middlefield’s “Trunk or Treat”event at Peckham Park. He got pets from princesses and Power Rangers, monsters and mermaids. He admits he’s a bit disappointed that no one gave him any candy.

Candace and her crew came through for Harley - got him this ridiculously comfy bed from our Amazon wish list! I carried it in from the car and before I could get it properly situated in its final spot, while I was getting the last load of stuff, Harley had already plopped himself down and gotten good and settled. He absolutely loves it and we are so grateful!

This video shows how sweetly Harley walks on leash. Is he this good 100% of the time? Of course not. He’s a dog! If something really exciting appears, like a bird shadow flickering across his path or a sassy squirrel, he will pull. His new family will need to use common sense and proper leash techniques as with any large dog. But he IS this good MOST of the time, and his favorite things are checking out smells and greeting friends along the way. We have some exciting news! Sweet little Trixie has completed her rehab after spinal surgery, and she is now ready for adoption. Yay!! We know that you are all ooing and ahhing over her amazing cuteness, but Trixie will have some specific needs in her new home. Trixie’s back legs were paralyzed when we took her from Animal Control and she required two surgeries. One for her disc that was blown out by some sort of trauma, and one to remove a Bladder stone blockage. Trixie has been diagnosed with IVDD, which means she could be prone to disc issues in the future. While we hope this doesn’t happen, we are looking for an adopter familiar with this condition. It will mean no stairs for Trixie and no jumping off of things like beds or couches. Trixie is frisky and loves to play with her stuffed toys. Her gate will always be a little wonky, but she is now able to run! Huge thanks to Gwen Gangi the owner of Pet Wellness and Therapy in East Lyme for helping Trixie build up her muscle strength after surgery with Hydrotherapy and Cold Laser treatments. Trixie is doing well with other dogs, and is getting pretty confident about standing up for herself. She really shouldn't live with big dogs that may injure her during play. A fenced yard would be super for her. As you can see, this cutie has come such a long way, and we owe to her to make sure she gets an appropriate home.
