We have had a total of 8 no shows/late cancellations this week. I know I’ve spoken about this before, but I feel the need to reiterate.

These 8 dogs that did not show up to their appointments cost us around $1000 in lost revenue this week. When you book an appointment with a small business, you are committing to purchasing a piece of that person’s time. You are promising them that you will provide their income for that portion of their day. Imagine going to work and being told there is no work for you to do for the next two hours, but you have to stay there anyway and you will not be paid for those two hours. How would you feel about that? I just want people to understand. I’ve tried to fix this problem so many different ways. I’ve made posts about it, i send out service agreements to be signed when the appointments are made that outline our no show/late cancellation policy. All we ask for is 24 hours notice so we can fill that spot. We keep cards on file to charge the fee and then the card is either declined or we charge the fee and get cussed out because they signed the agreement without reading it or they’re just mad at having to pay it.

So we I sit here at work with no dog to groom, I ask you to please respect our time and give us notice if you can’t make your appointment. Write your appointments in your calendar so that you aren’t completely dependent on the reminders that come from us. Times are hard and we can’t be losing this much money and continue to stay in business. Thank you for understanding ❤️

Today marks Fur on Fleek’s 4 year anniversary!

Some people thought I was crazy for opening a business in the middle of a pandemic, but since then we have grown so much! I hired more groomers, a receptionist, and we take care of THOUSANDS of dogs in central Kentucky. We have done fundraisers to help the community, partnered with rescues to help out the abandoned and abused animals in our area, and let me tell you….

It’s all because of you. Thank you all so much for helping me turn my dreams into reality. Not many people can honestly say they love their jobs, but I’m one of the lucky ones.

Are you ready to see some glow ups?

Our friends at Paws 4 the Cause siezed these babies and more from a puppy mill. Today Breanna and I spent the day getting them cleaned up and on the road to recovery ❤️

Please remember that if you insist on buying puppies from backyard breeders, at least ask to see the parents. These are the parents of you puppy mill puppies. If they refuse, it’s likely because the parents live in conditions just like these did.

I’m back! Tanned and ready to jump back in! I’ve missed dogs SO much! I was playing with the dogs running wild in Jamaica while everyone else was exploring 😂

That being said, congratulations to the winner for cutest pose!!

In a few short hours, I will leave for my week long cruise in the Caribbean 😎 🛳️ 🏝️

The shop will remain open (with the exception of Friday) and running, with Ally, Amber, and Breanna taking care of everything. Please be patient if messages take a bit to be answered (this job demands a lot!) and remember that the fastest way to get information is through calling the shop during normal business hours. I will be deleting the business app from my phone for a much needed vacation from all things which stress me. Until I return, please know I love and appreciate you all so very much!! And although I do very much need this break, I will miss you all and the fur you bring into my life!

Thank you, all you lovely people, for making me feel so much better yesterday and lifting me up when I was down.

I’m setting sail for the Caribbean on June 15! I have a very limited number of appointments available before then, so please grab those up if you’re needing in within the next two weeks!

We try so hard to take good care of all the dogs who come in to Fur on Fleek. We do what is best for them, we use the best products, we handle them with love…

And then these people swoop in and leave us one star reviews because they don’t want to pay us for our work. I have three one star reviews in four years, all 3 complaining about price when our prices are industry standard in our area. Two of these reviews were in the last week! One was mad that she had to pay a $20 matting fee when it took two of us to safely remove the impacted coat from her poor dog. Any dog requiring preshaving is subject to a matting fee due to the damage to our tools and the extra time it takes to get the job done safely. This isn’t a secret.

And when you choose a specific blade on our shave chart, then we use that exact blade and you get mad that your dog is cut too short?

I just feel defeated. Because we aren’t trying to rip anyone off, we’re just trying to get paid a fair wage for the incredibly difficult job we do. Our overhead is out of this world expensive.

Thank you to those of you who understand and appreciate us. And if you are happy with our services, an honest review on google to drown out the negative would be appreciated.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT:

After this month, my family is moving to Owenton (we bought 22 acres!!!) No worries! Fur on Fleek is staying exactly where it is in Georgetown. HOWEVER, this affects my boarders.

First of all, the new house is 30 minutes from the one I’m in now. So for convenience, pick up and drop off will be done at the shop during normal business hours. Of course you’re still welcome to make that drive if you want to!

Secondly, as much as I’ve loved having a house full of dogs, they’ve destroyed my house lol. My blinds are broken, baseboards and window sills chewed, furniture destroyed, window screens ripped out, doors scratched up, and don’t even get me started on the floors. I don’t want them to destroy my new house too, so I’m building a doggie play house on my new property. They’ll still have someone watching over them every day, they’ll have an even bigger area to run and play, and I’m even going to get some doggy play ground equipment for them to have fun on. I totally get it if you want to cancel your bookings in favor of someone willing to keep them in the house with them, so just let me know if this new arrangement doesn’t work for you. And everyone is welcome to come check it out for themselves to make them more comfortable with the new setup. Most of you have been boarding with me for years and you know I’ll keep your pets safe and happy 🙂 We’re moving at the end of June, so until then everything stays normal. Thank you!!
