What's on your pets plate? 🍽
With Thanksgiving coming up, we wanted to share some holiday pet food safety tips that everyone should be aware of.
✅ SAFE (in moderation):
Plain turkey meat – cooked, boneless, skinless, and unseasoned.
Plain pumpkin – great for digestion! (not pumpkin pie filling)
Sweet potatoes – cooked and plain (no marshmallows, butter, or spices).
Green beans – steamed or boiled without salt or onion.
Carrots – raw or cooked, no butter or glaze.
Apple slices – no seeds or core.
Plain rice or mashed potatoes – small amounts, no butter, gravy, or cream.
🚫 NOT SAFE:
Turkey bones or skin – can splinter and cause choking or pancreatitis.
Gravy & fatty foods – too rich; can cause vomiting or pancreatitis.
Stuffing & casseroles – usually contain onions, garlic, or seasoning toxic to pets.
Onions, garlic, leeks, chives – toxic to dogs and cats (can cause anemia).
Chocolate & cocoa – highly toxic, especially dark chocolate.
Grapes & raisins – can cause kidney failure.
Alcohol – even small amounts can be fatal.
Nutmeg (in pies & treats) – toxic to pets.
Xylitol (found in sugar-free baked goods) – extremely toxic, even in small amounts.
💡 Helpful Tips:
Keep trash secured — pets will go dumpster diving for scraps. 🗑️
Remind guests not to sneak table scraps under the table (no matter how cute those eyes are!).
