🥳🐶 FREEDOM RIDE - SORT OF 🐶🥰
We are so happy to welcome little "Fran" to the I Am Dog Rescue family. This sweet lady came into the shelter with her puppies, and she's been waiting so long to get noticed. We don't know for sure that she's as old as that little frosty face makes her look, but it's tough for dogs who even look like seniors to catch a break in the shelter. 🥺
Thanks to a foster who got to meet Franny and is committed to fostering her while she finds the right forever family, we were able to bail her out of the shelter yesterday. 💙
Fran was so wiggly and happy to be headed out the front door of the shelter and into her getaway vehicle that it was tough to get a picture of her in the car, but she did great. She had a wonderful first night and is enjoying toys and some peace and quiet. 😴 She's very sweet and just wants to hang out with her foster mama.
We are in love with Fran's adorable smile in the Christmas picture Photography by Sheila took of her at the shelter, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for this sweetheart. ☀

Oreo is a petite girl who loves to be a lapdog when it comes to cuddles. She's a smartypants with the most adorable zoomies ever, and she'd love to show them off to you in your yard. She's hoping to find a family who will take her with them everywhere they go and who thinks squeaky toys are as fun as she does.
Oreo will work for snacks, and she's eager to please. She can be a little sassy, so it'll be important that she goes to a home that will provide structure and leadership as she continues to grow up to be the bestest girl.

Our adoption fee is $175.

We require an application to be completed prior to setting up a meet-and-greet. We do not offer "on-the-spot" adoptions. We do not adopt on a first-come, first-served basis. We do our best to match dogs with families that will be a good fit to help ensure a successful adoption. We reserve the right to decline any application for any reason.

Due to the nature of our adoption process, our fosters are usually only able to consider forever families within a reasonable driving distance of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. A vet reference is required, and a trial period will be completed before finalizing the adoption. Thank you for your understanding.

We shared our fundraiser last night, but it's hardly been seen. We thought we'd post directly to see if it makes a difference.
We're asking for your help with a year-end fundraising effort as Buddy starts his training adventure.

𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒚'𝒔 𝑺𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚
Buddy B joined the rescue last year when he was found running around as a stray. His foster family quickly learned that Buddy was not comfortable with wearing a collar or with being leashed. He was very frightened if someone tried to put a leash on him, and he would let everyone know he was not happy. This makes it very challenging to do basic things like take him to the vet or have him at a meet-and-greet. We ruled out any potential medical issue for his aversion to the leash, which meant we had to work on it from a behavioral perspective. Buddy is sweet as can be and very laid back when he's not worried about having a leash put on him. He's been a real sweetheart for his foster family.
However, they just aren't in a position to really work with him on the issue, and without another foster, we decided the best option for him was to send him to our friends at The HappyGentle Dog Place for a board-and-train experience.
Buddy arrived yesterday (12/2), and the training he will receive will give him the confidence he needs to move forward, and he will learn how to make good choices - all while having a great time making some new friends (we found out he LOVES playing with other dogs).
We love the training team at The HappyGentle Dog Place, and we cannot wait to see Buddy B progress through his training. He's going to be such an awesome companion, and we are excited for him to have an opportunity to find a family of his very own. 🫶
Training is not cheap, and it's an expense that is very difficult on the rescue. It's a bit of an unknown factor because we don't know exactly how long it will take to help Buddy overcome his fear. This makes it challenging for us to be able to help new dogs.

🐕😍 Give for Dogs Like Archie 😍🐕
GIVING TUESDAY is almost over. It's been a day of giving that kicks off the year-end fundraising efforts for charitable organizations across the country. ❤ Thank you to those who have donated so far!
We hope you'll consider making a donation to I Am Dog Rescue today to help us continue our work to help dogs like Archie, who has made a major transformation during his time with the rescue. 🤩
Archie came to us with hardly any fur and yellow, crusty skin. He smelled awful and was extremely uncomfortable with sarcoptic mange. 😢
Thankfully, we had a foster family who was experienced with these issues and they offered to take Archie temporarily and start him on his path to feeling much better. With medicated baths, medications, and very meticulous care, Archie's skin started to look better within a couple of weeks. He eventually moved to a new foster family, and he's been having the best time. He's even teaching his furry foster brother how to play! 💞
Giving dogs like Archie a new beginning is why we rescue.
💰 When you donate, your generosity will go toward expenses like we have for Archie: medications, injections, medicated shampoo, multiple vet visits, heartworm prevention, flea/tick prevention, etc.

Buddy B joined the rescue last year when he was found running around as a stray. 😞 A family reached out to us for help and decided they would like to foster him (we didn't have any foster families available). Thankfully, the shelter was willing to let us foster him through his stray hold period. No one came for this handsome boy, so he joined the I Am Dog Rescue family.

The family quickly learned that Buddy was not comfortable with wearing a collar or with being leashed. He was very frightened if someone tried to put a leash on him, and he would let everyone know he was not happy. This makes it very challenging to do basic things like take him to the vet or have him at a meet-and-greet. We ruled out any potential medical issue for his aversion to the leash, which meant we had to work on it from a behavioral perspective. Buddy is sweet as can be and very laid back when he's not worried about having a leash put on him. He's been a real sweetheart for his foster family.

However, they just aren't in a position to really work with him on the issue. We don't have any experienced fosters available, and we don't want to risk sending Buddy to a family who is new to fostering and may not be able to commit to the time he needs.

Duke was originally adopted as a puppy from an area rescue. When his family had a child leave for college, they returned him. The rescue wasn't in a position to take him back at the time, so they reached out to see if we could step in. Thanks to an awesome, brand-new foster family, we were able to help out and bring Duke into our program. 💙
Duke came in with skin issues and ended up having digestive issues as well. As a result, he needs a daily medication to keep him from scratching and a special, prescription food. These add up to over $200 a month. 😕

🌻🐶 Give for Dogs Like Bree 🐶🌻
It's GIVING TUESDAY, a day of charitable giving in the spirit of the holiday season. ❤
We hope you'll consider making a donation to I Am Dog Rescue today to help us continue our work to help dogs like Bree.
This beautiful gal was hit by a car while she was running around on her own. She had a horrible injury to one of her legs and some pretty gnarly road rash. One of our awesome families came forward to foster her, knowing it would require extra care due to the extent of her injuries. 🩹
Bree ended up having her leg amputated, making her the prettiest tripawd around. She recovered from her surgery very quickly due to the attentive care of her foster family, and she's ready to find her very own family for Christmas. 🎄 Bree is so sweet and she runs and plays without a care in the world. She does wonderfully with other dogs and is a very good girl.
