In honor of #VetTechWeek, BVNS Richmond is proud to honor our six licensed veterinary technicians at our Richmond location, who play an essential role in providing exceptional care to our clients and their beloved pets.
In Virginia, a licensed veterinary technician (LVT) must complete an Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology and pass a national licensing exam. Additionally, they are required to complete eight hours of continuing education each year to maintain their licensure.
Our neurology veterinary technicians work closely with neurologists and perform a variety of critical functions, including providing direct patient care for hospitalized animals, providing and administering anesthesia and analgesia during surgeries, MRIs, and other procedures preparing patients for surgery, and much more!
Join us in celebrating the dedication and expertise of our veterinary technicians, who are vital to the well-being of our patients!

#BVNSNeurotransmitter 🧠Meet Dr. Akin's cat, Buttercup!
Buttercup was adopted from Good Mews Animal Foundation along with her sister, Sarahbellum, in the spring of 2020. On neurologic examination, Buttercup was very spastic in all four legs with exaggerated stepping movements.
What do you think Buttercup is experiencing? Comment below ⬇ and on Friday we'll reveal her diagnosis in our latest #Neurotransmitter, a quarterly case study newsletter written by our neurologists. 🐱✨
#BVNSHappyPatients Meet Quinn the Beagle!
Quinn came to BVNS Atlanta in March after he was unable to walk. He had a ventral slot surgery performed by Dr. Akin. Here he is at his 6-week post-op recheck exam where he walked into the hospital and was happily wagging his tail. We are so happy that Quinn can walk again. The family is thrilled with his progress! Let’s give around of applause for Quinn in the comments below ⬇️👏🐶
