So proud of our hunters headed to Blue Ridge and Louisville. They’ve worked hard this year and are strong in the ashba points, with Lucky Lass holding that coveted top spot. WC CH Undercover is up to 29 CH points, he’s such a thrill! Sarah and Kentucky Grand will have their first time on the green shavings this year but are third in the rankings and are really ready to put on a show. I just love the diversity of the saddlebred in full display in the hunter division!

Headed home (hopefully….. still at airport with a delayed flight) from the ESC Riding Instructor Workshop. What a two days! The burnout coach was great- wish I had his energy! Had such good ideas of making changes. And the lesson ideas flowed all over the place, it’s going to be a fun time at Avalon the next few weeks with all the new things we are all going to try. Thank you to Jackie Cline Hale and Shane for being so organized and excellent hosts. I met some lovely new people and of course caught up with old friends. Christy Parker and I are at the airport talking about what an incredible group we had, there is no other industry that works harder!!!!! So proud to be a part of it!😍

Sunday is our annual horse show at Avalon Stables! We are excited and ready to welcome all of the riders, friends, and family to join us in sharing the amazing American Saddlebred together!

Please bring chairs to watch the show, but also plan some time to check out our various vendor booths as well as our silent auction!

Ice Dreammm Shop will be selling ice cream from 11 am - 2pm and will donate a portion of their proceeds to Avalon Family Charities!

Mark your calendars! On January 13, 2024, Avalon Family Charities is hosting a "Colorful Run" at Lake Park in Lutz, FL. We're hosting this fundraiser to raise money for the Avalon Family Charities, Inc scholarship fund in equestrian education. In 2022, we gave away close to $20,000.

This color themed run is powder-free & pet-friendly! We will have color accessories & face paint at the beginning of the race to deck yourself out in your chosen color.

What a wonderful week with US Saddle Seat Association at Cascade Stables. This program is a wonderful way for young riders to get to know others in the industry and begin some wonderful friendships. But it also does the same for us. I am amazed at Barbe Smith and her willingness to give everything she has to this program. Scooter and Avery Scheurich - I challenge anyone to find a harder working couple that still show up with a smile to get whatever task done. To Kent Swalla, Georgia and Jimmy Morrison, Cindy Mugnier, and the wonderful Lori Nelson, you guys are the glue that holds it all together. (And all the epic Cascade moms- you rock!)To all the coaches who came and dedicated their efforts to these great girls- it’s quite fun ride!!! My favorite pic is the last one. The sweet Betsy Young Boone still walking her favorite horse, after everyone was gone, she’s what it’s all about.

I am very excited to announce the January 1st 2023 launch of the Avalon Family Charities!

We are one of the few in the nation to achieve this title in the equine world and we can’t wait to start. This has been a dream of mine for a long time so when Avalon’s long-time client, Brooke Asiatico described how I could create a sports equine charity that fosters all of the pleasures and pride that come from this business, I was immediately on board!! After over a year of planning and with the help of many of our Avalon family members we are finally ready.

Some folks have asked what will be the difference between Avalon Family Charities and Avalon Stables. The easiest answer is in the “giving” that we’ll be able to provide. Because of our new corporate bylaws and amendments outlined in our charity, we’ll be able to provide horse rescue, special needs lessons, and scholarships to help those without means to further their equestrian goals.

Most of us in the business do what we do because of our love for the horses and our riders. There are several factors that drive me, and other horse trainers and equestrian coaches, to put in the long hours and hard physical work required of this business. The big factors are the privilege of working with horses for a living, the feeling of accomplishment that comes from putting a horse and rider team together and being able to teach my riders the joys of being an equestrian. Our Avalon barn family has been so blessed with wonderful people that touch our lives immeasurably so it will be such a thrill to pay those blessings forward. Our good friend Jodi Fulton always dreamed of showing and got to win some lovely ribbons with her show horse LA Sir Top Hat. Our scholarships will all be dedicated in her memory and she would be so happy to spread that joy she had to the next rider. How lovely to give a scholarship to go to a regional show in North Carolina to a rider who never thought they would show out of state? Or that talented young girl who has the ability to qualify for academy Nationals but not the means? Or that horse crazy kid to start lessons? This is all a dream come true to be able to help in this way. Horses teach us such life lessons that the gift of competition will have ripples throughout the rider’s life. If a 12-year-old can direct a 1000 pound horse to do her bidding in a ring with 16 others while being judged by three, and watched by thousands, do you think walking into a new high school for the first time will intimidate them? Not a chance! They’ll be the most confident one in the class.

It is with a thankful heart I begin this journey of giving back and only with the help of such special people like the Asiatico family, the Fulton family, the Stewig family, and many others did this dream really take shape.

As we say goodbye to Avalon Stables and hello to Avalon Family Charities, we will forever keep Avalon’s motto- Follow your dream!

The Avalon Stables Horse Show silent auction is going live tonight! Launching at 8PM tonight, check out over 20 auction items and we'll see you at the horse show on Sunday. The auction ends at the horse show December 4th at 1:30PM (Item pickup will be at the end of the auction at Avalon Stables to the highest bidder for each item.) All proceeds from the silent auction go to the Avalon Stables Academy program for new helmets, saddles and bridles.
