Hi, my name is Smeagol. I was a baby kitten sitting on the edge of the road. My mouth hurt so bad, I was so hungry, I didn't care about the cars and motorcycles speeding right by me.

Suddenly, a car stopped, and a human picked me up and put me inside. She knew something was wrong because I didn't run away when she drove past. So she went around the block and came back for me. I was so happy to be off that hot, dusty highway, I started to purr as I sat there on her passenger seat, as I listened to her calling her Mom, and kept purring as we went into the vet.

But it was really bad news. My jaw was broken, the bone was sticking out inside my mouth. It was badly infected and smelled so bad, it must have been broken for several days. That's how long I wasn't able to eat anything. I was covered with a crusty mixture of pus and blood and dirt because even though I was injured I still wanted to be clean and I had licked myself all over.

I have seen this herb save so many lives, literally drop elevated liver enzymesđŸ©ž by half in just a few weeks!!

According to multiple studies, if you have a dog (or cat) with liver issues and you aren’t already giving your pets’ milk thistle (silymarin), you are missing out on the most important liver-restoring, “life-saving🆘" herb on the planet!

Just released last week, a new study on milk thistle showed the herb had incredible hepatoprotective properties when fed to dogs. “Hepatoprotection” is the ability of a substance to prevent liver damage.

Not only does it help to regenerate a damaged liver, but it’s also anti-aging according to longevity researchers!

In our new book, The Forever Dog, Dr. Karen Becker and I have it listed in our “Supplemental Habits for a Long and Healthy Life” section as one of our most important supplements to rotate into a dog’sđŸ¶ diet plan. We also list the best “detox” doseđŸ„„ to give a dog using the latest research. Available for pre-order now: https://foreverdog.com/about/

Believe me when I say this: if you have a pet with cancer and/or trying to prevent cancer & you don't have 🍄mushrooms🍄 supplemented in your daily diet plan, you are missing out!!

New Study finds people who incorporated any variety of mushrooms into their daily diets had a lower risk of cancer and lived-longer!

University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine found Dogs with cancer that were treated with a mushroom compound
had the longest survival times ever reported for dogs with the disease!

FYI: Rodney Habib and I discuss the types of mushrooms and dosages in our new and upcoming book: The Forever Dog:

Human Study:
Individuals who ate 18 grams of mushrooms — or about 1/8 to 1/4 cup — daily had a 45% lower risk of cancer compared to those who did not eat mushrooms.

One day, the volunteers witnessed Rush diligently making his own bed before the visiting hours. They captured him using his mouth to hold the sheets and tuck them neatly on all corners. The poor baby just wanted to look like a good boy before the day’s adoption visits.

JP and Pat, rescuers, had heard about a homeless dog named Norah. For years she'd lived near a ditch where runoff went and often scavenged for food in garbage cans. She never seemed to care much about interacting with humans around her though; she was skittish and would never let JP or Pat come clos...

THE GIFT OF THE GROWL
Why growling should never be punished and also never be ignored
Not all growls are negative. Some growls are play growls, attention seeking growls, pleasure seeking growls or frustration growls. They may all sound a little different and may be unique to the particular dog. This post is not about different types of growls, but about warning or aggressive growls.
When a dog growls, maybe even at us, the natural human response is to feel offended and maybe even angry. Surely dogs need to learn not to growl, growling is bad, growling is unacceptable, growling is a problem and needs to be punished so a dog learns it’s wrong, disrespectful and not to do it again, right?
NO, this couldn’t be further from the truth! A dog that growls has just provided us with a very valuable communication signal. In their way, they have just communicated to us how they feel without resorting to a bite. Dogs use growling in an attempt to avoid having to resort to biting, not to initiate it. They could just as easily have not even bothered to growl and gone straight to a bite.
Growling is a dog's way of saying "please stop," "stay away from me," "go away," “I’m not comfortable with this and I’m feeling threatened”. A dog that growls is trying hard to communicate and punishment suppresses this ability to communicate. Punishment doesn’t change the level of the dog's discomfort; it creates more stress and the dog will feel more threatened.
Growling is not the problem. Growling is the result of and the symptom of a problem. A dog that bites without the warning of a growl is a far more serious problem than a dog that growls but doesn’t bite.
Look for any other early warning signals that may precede a growl. Recognize and take note of what makes your dog feel threatened and create distance between your dog and whatever is triggering them.
Be grateful for the gift of a growl - it provides us with an opportunity to address the cause & prevent the bite.

ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT HERBS TO EVER ADD TO YOUR PET’S DIET!

In a first-of-its-kind study, researchers looked for the presence of toxic chemicals in umbilical cord blood of newborn babies. Of the more than 400 chemicals tested for, 287 were detected in umbilical cord blood. Of these, 180 cause cancer in humans or animals, 217 are toxic to the brain or nervous system, and 208 cause birth defects or abnormal development in animals. - Environmental Working Group

Hello toxic planet and the skyrocketing occurrences of cancer in our pets (and in ourselves)!

Let me introduce you to one of my top 5 most important herbs that needs to be in your pet’s life, if it isn’t already!

Milk thistle!

This herb has been used for over 2,000 years to help fix a zillion different problems!

Recently, scientists from the Radiological Physics and Advisory Division in India found in their study on milk thistle that silibinin, found in milk thistle, programmed cell death in breast cancer.

“Early laboratory studies show that silymarin and other active substances in milk thistle may have anticancer effects. These substances appear to stop cancer cells from dividing and reproducing, shorten their lifespan, and reduce blood supply to tumors.” - University of Maryland Medical Center

Personally though, I love it for its allergy-fighting properties! If your poor pet is constantly itching and scratching, milk thistle can help!

According to The Truth Cause of Allergies – It’s In The Liver:

“The liver has to process toxins and when it can’t do its job it stores them. If it stores them it also produces additional histamines to protect itself. If an allergen is present the brain sends a message: ‘Send out a few histamines! I think there’s an invader!!’ and the liver proceeds it releases too many, and you have the allergic response. Cleanse the liver and maybe [...] you’ll become allergy/asthma free.”

Dosages:

Use Πof a teaspoon per 20lbs of body weight.

Detoxification is such an important process, not only for us humans, but also for our pets. We can be feeding our furry loved ones the best foods in the world but pores clogged with toxins will not allow essential nutrients to pass, causing a weakened immune system. A pet’s weakened immune system equals a multitude of problems! Milk thistle is the boss of detoxifiers!

Friends, I am asking for your shares and prayers! Buddy, Teffany, and Britany lived their entire lives with their owner and were loved and well cared for. But the owner became homeless and was unable to keep them or take them back even with assistance. What makes it even harder is that Buddy is blind and possibly deaf, and the other two are possibly hearing impaired.

They are in Philadelphia at ACCT Philly, and Buddy is so confused. When in a kennel without his siblings he would panic spin - it wasn't him being kennel crazy, which many will assume.

It was because while the shelter can be scary for many dogs, for dogs with no vision it's terrifying. Their sense of smell is already heightened and having no sight and smelling all the shelter smells is overwhelming.

Thankfully, the three were able to be put in a kennel together, because Buddy will not even walk without being around his sisters. But once with them, he's a different dog.

These dogs are smart, and Buddy will adapt quickly to a new home as long as he has a sibling with him. But with the shortage of fosters and adopters, the shelter doesn’t know how they are going to find a rescue or someone out there who can give him and at least one of his siblings a home together.

These dogs need a rescue who will commit to keeping Buddy with a sibling, or that unicorn adopter who has a yard and the ability to provide the care Buddy and his sisters need. Blind dogs can lead normal lives! They map out new space and their other senses compensate!

đŸŸPlease spread the word and help find someone for Buddy and his sisters, and if you're interested please fill out this form and they’ll contact you: Christie Keith Here is an application! That way we can get some info up front! https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ACCT/Dog

If you are a rescue that can commit to keeping Buddy with a sibling and can take them, there is a $2000 donation to help provide support to finding them a home.

Pictured below are Buddy's two sisters and he is in the background ❀

And as always, if your pets, or any animals you know -- the sick, the injured, the homeless, the lost, the fearful, the abused -- or the people who love and care for them, could use help, tell us in the comments and Teresa and I will hold them in our prayers.

Please feel free to pass this message to anyone else you know who might want to receive prayers as well.

And we also invite all of you to join us in praying that the suffering will be healed, the grieving will be comforted, the homeless will be adopted, the abused will be rescued, and the lost will be found. Amen.
