Meet Avalon: The Perfect Mix of Joy and Snuggles! 🐾

Are you looking for a companion who is past the crazy puppy phase but still has plenty of love to give? Meet Avalon, a gorgeous 5-year-old spayed Labrador Retriever who is ready to find her forever family.
Avalon is the definition of "the best of both worlds." She is an absolute rockstar at playing fetch and swimming (in true Lab fashion!), but the moment the fun is done, she transforms into a professional couch potato who lives for cuddles.

Why you’ll love her:
• A+ Student: She has fantastic obedience skills and walks beautifully on a leash. Completely house and crate trained!
• Family Friendly: She gets along great with other friendly dogs, house cats, and even goats!
• The Sweetest Soul: Once she trusts you, she loves with her whole heart.

What she needs:
Avalon can be a tad nervous when meeting new people, but she has a very simple love language: Ball is Life (and so are cookies). Toss a ball for her or offer a treat, and you have instantly secured a BFF for life. She also prefers a home with rugs or carpet, as slick floors aren't really her jam.

We have some very exciting news!

Our launch of Blue Ridge Canine’s Virtual Service Dog Academy is planned to go live by Christmas with “Foundational Training for Service Dogs”! We will be offering this course as a standalone purchase option or as a hybrid program that will include in person or virtual lessons throughout the course. The course is extremely detailed and will help lay a solid foundation for service dog prospects.

Our next courses that we will offer will include advanced service dog training for the AKC CGC and public access. Individual courses will be available for different work and task training, including psychiatric service training, mobility assistance, item retrieval, medical alert/response, and odor detection for allergies. This will allow our virtual program to be tailored for each individual service dog. These owner assisted training courses will help reduce the cost for owner train service dogs. We will also be compiling resources for reputable service dog trainers nationwide for individuals that would like in person assistance not in our service area.

This is in addition to the continued development of our free course that we are offering that discusses the details about service dogs and the ADA!

🏕️ Camping with Dogs:
Before you pack your tent, brush up on your dog’s recall and leash manners. A strong “leave it” can make all the difference around wildlife and camp snacks!

🎓 Training Tip:
Short, fun training sessions during outdoor adventures help keep your dog focused even in new environments — an important skill for all dogs, especially working and service dogs.

💛 For Service Dog Teams:
Seasonal changes can bring new distractions and challenges. Reinforcing task training and confidence-building exercises outdoors helps your service dog stay reliable no matter where the season takes you.

The leaves are changing, the air is crisp, and our pups are loving every minute of it! Fall is the perfect time to brush up on training — whether it’s polishing obedience skills, mastering calm leash walks among crunchy leaves, or simply learning to “stay” while posing for that perfect autumn photo 🍂📸

Our training focuses on building confidence, communication, and fun between you and your dog — because a well-trained pup is ready for every season.

Our dogs give us all they have, every day, every moment of their lives. I am so lucky to have been fulfilled with their love and their support even in the darkest of times. I know that I’ve made many mistakes along the way and I hope to continue to try to live up to what they deserve. If I can tell them one thing for the dogs I have and for the ones who have crossed rainbow bridge and they’re still waiting for me, thank you, thank you for giving me everything even when I did not deserve it. I hope I gave you many moments of joy, and that what you have taught me lives on through the dogs that I have, and those that will follow you in my heart.

Zira and Lula’s flight from Dulles to Louisville! Lula was amazing. Through TSA, on the train, 6 elevators, tons of people, and going outside to walk the ramp up to our tiny regional plane! So proud of Lula you would think she had been flying her whole life!
