Latte here! During the Holidays I would join my mom at Enjoy Your Dog. There were all kinds of food, treats, and TOYS in the office. I thought they were all for me. But nope, mom said they were for all of the dogs that don’t have homes yet. I tried really hard to be good, walking past the toys I wanted my whole life. Linda and Alisa positioned a bright orange toy under the tree. They said it was for a special dog at West Suburban Humane Society. I could see it every time I walked by. When I didn’t think mom was looking I would try to grab it. I tried so hard to have good manners, knowing the dogs without homes needed it more than me.
I convinced mom that I could not go on without that toy.
So mom began the search to buy this special toy that was under the tree at Enjoy Your Dog. She called Happy Dog Barkery but they were sold out. BUT they ordered one for my mom. Thank you Happy Dog Bakery!
TODAY was the BEST day in my WHOLE life. My toy came in. I’m the happiest boy ever!

Trainer Tip: When your dog makes eye contact with you, it’s a sign that they’re actively engaging and paying attention. This is the perfect moment to reward them, reinforcing that looking at you is a good thing! 💖 Over time, rewarding eye contact helps your dog learn to check in with you regularly—making them more responsive and less distracted by the world around them. It also helps break the cycle of pulling on the leash, giving them a clear alternative to focus on instead of tugging or pulling. As your dog starts to look to you for guidance and direction, they’ll walk more politely by your side, and your walks will be more enjoyable for both of you! We challenge you to observe your pup's "checks-in" on your walks.
