Creek Pet Adoption is a shelter in Kellyville, Oklahoma, dedicated to giving every dog a second chance. Most of the dogs we get have had it. They’ve been tossed from one situation to the next, never getting the training, food or shelter, and love they need. Often, we pull a ‘last minute’ dog from a kill shelter, and find them the perfect home they deserve. We have placed hundreds of dogs into the perfect, loving forever home. While at the shelter, we give the best care they can get--minus a loving family, of course. Finally, every dog gets to feel the feeling of being loved, and finally belonging. It happens time and time again--we get stories and pictures of a dog that was ‘aggressive’, ‘unmanageable’, or simply unwanted, in their new home, each fitting in perfectly, and giving their whole, endless doggy heart to their new family, with a smile a mile wide.
Sometimes, a dog we adopted comes back again...and again...and again... for no fault of their own. Once again, they get placed back into the shelter, wondering what they did wrong. They might even have given up. But we are their rescue, and we never give up. Recently, a dog that had come back to us six times, and had just passed her one year anniversary at the shelter, finally found the family she’d been meant for from the beginning. As of today, she hasn’t come back. By then, she would have been put down in a normal shelter. One of our dogs--the picture of which is above the title--will pass her two year anniversary this summer. She is one of the best dogs I’ve ever met--loving everyone she sees, and never knowing a stranger. The problem? She has dog aggression problems. Like most dogs with a ‘title’, she’s judged by her faults, and left to spend her life in the shelter. One day, she’ll finally meet the family that wants one dog, and is ready to let her have another chance. Every dog will finally meet the family they were created for, but sometimes, it just takes a while. That’s why we’re a no-kill. Some family out there will adopt a dog that would have long since been given up on, and have their lives enriched with joy, and thousands of doggy smiles. We keep every dog until the moment they get the home they deserve. That’s why we exist in the first place: to give dogs a second chance at life.
