Yuki Ookami Show Kennel We are a small show kennel in Northeastern Oregon. We show in AKC and UKC. Our main focus is showing our dogs. We have very strong feeling about breeding.

We show Siberian huskies and do some handling for friends and family with other breeds. About me

We have been showing in AKC & UKC since 2010. We have been around dogs most our lives and Siberian huskies since 1997. We been in 4-H since our teens and had a wonderful teacher although she taught more on obedience then conformation. We attend a handler class put on by the closest Kennel club as oft

en as we can. We feel if you breed the right way there is little to no profit to be made. We make sure every dog has their hips and eyes certified at the right age. We spay our females after 3-4 litters as we have been taught it is very hard for them to have puppies the older they get. After all, the health of our dogs are more important then having puppies. We also feel strongly about spay/neutering. If the dog is not of show or breeding quality then it has no business breeding. That is why we are so firm on the spay/ neutering of all our pet quality puppies. You breed the best to the best and spay/ neuter the rest. We admit that we have made a few mistakes. Trusting the wrong person, not trusting the right, getting dogs that were not of good quality and the having to deal with problems with them. However we have learned from those mistakes and know how not to repeat them. We feel that we breed quality dogs for Show and for companionship. Even those that don't have what it takes to show can still make wonderful pets. Thank you for reading a little about me. If you have any question, feel free to contact me at

Meka scared me to death last night. I went to town to do the monthly shopping and was gone from 7 AM to 1 AM. Meka had access to the outside as well as to my bedroom and her bed. When I got home I found her laying in front of the gate to the deck. I honked the horn and she did not move. The thought running threw my head was "oh no she passed away waiting for me to get home." Thankfully once I got out of the truck and called her name a few times she lifted her head. I am really getting paranoid about her passing. She is going to be 14 this October. I truly hope she sees her up coming birthday.

https://www.akc.org/legislative-alerts/oregon-roseburg-consider-limiting-number-dog-cats-owned-monday-1-22/

Summary:

On Monday, January 22, the Roseburg City Council will consider the adoption of multiple changes to their animal control laws – including new limitations on the number of dogs and cats a city resident may possess. Residents are encouraged to express their opposition to the proposal (scroll down for more information).

Summary:

As currently written, the proposal would:

Limit the number of dogs a city resident may possess to 4 and the number of cats to 6.
A dog found at large and entered into the city’s animal shelter system could either be resold or euthanized after 72 or 120 hours, depending on its licensing status.
City residents would be forced to report relatively minor “bites” from a dog or puppy that really do not indicate that a dog is dangerous.
A pet dog or cat who may have bitten a small rodent (or similar animal) on the city resident’s own property would be considered a violation to the city’s nuisance laws.

What You Can Do:

Attend the January 22, 2024, Roseburg City Council meeting in person or online and respectfully express your opposition to these provisions, particularly to the limitations on the number of dogs and cats a resident may possess. Remind the Councilors that arbitrary limits on the number of pets a city resident may own is in no way indicative of whether someone is a responsible pet owner or not. View AKC’s printable handout for additional talking points on the problems with ownership limit laws.

If you can’t attend the meeting, you can also submit your opposition to the proposal by emailing [email protected] before noon on Monday, January 22.

The proposal will be discussed on:

Monday, January 22, 2024, at 7:00 PM
Roseburg City Council

City Council Chambers, City Hall

900 SE Douglas Avenue, Roseburg, Oregon 97470

To participate virtually: Contact the City Recorder by phone (541) 492-6866 or email ([email protected]) by 12:00 p.m. the day of the meeting to get a link to the meeting.

Provide your name, address, phone number and which item on the agenda you wish to speak— Ordinance No. 3596
