Laura Maulbetsch - Brilliant Borderhauss Dog Training A dog training center using reinforcement based techniques. We are located in Howell, MI on a 20 acre farm.

I offer dog training classes throughout the year in a number of venues and clinics. We use positive reinforcement methods specializing in dog agility, trick, CGC, puppies, canine fitness and foundation skills. We offer group classes, private lessons, and an extensive online program for clients.

The Ultimate Pup Adventure Class Feb 27, 7pm, Thurs

Unleash your dog’s potential with a perfect mix of fun, fitness, and mental stimulation! This dynamic class features:

Enrichment: Boost your pup’s brainpower with games and sensory challenges.
Fitness: Build strength and confidence with obstacle courses and agility fun.
Tricks: Learn fun, useful skills to enhance your bond.
Perfect for all breeds and skill levels, this class is where adventure and learning come together. Join us for tail-wagging fun!

For now, while the weather is unpredictable, we are doing drop-ins. $30 per session. Register to hold your spot :)

I try to remind my students to not worry about perfection and work with WITH your dog- not against. Cole, being a 2 year old lab likes to find things he shouldn't have and put them in his mouth. My reaction isn't to chase him down and yell, "no!" But rather, relax and teach him to want to bring me anything he finds. Here he is getting better at finding my hand to give it to me, in exchange for a goldfish cracker, the nearest thing I had for reinforcement. Not perfect, but better. He then promptly found his usual place on the rug while we are eating lunch. I also immediately got up and blocked his ability to get into the room where he found the off limits items. 1. Help them without losing your cool 2. Change the environment 3. Work with the dog in front of you 4. Practice your treat tossing 🤣🤣

Last agility class of 2023 and we found a little something for everyone to play. Happy holidays to all!

Izzy came for her first lesson. She's starting to learn to love her crate, find her leash walking spot and recall fast to her name. Starting out with the basics and meeting both Izzy and her owner where there are now will help them both feel confident learning new skills. #dogtraining #howellmichigan #howelldog #howelldogtraining #puppytraining
