Here's the deal. I was asked to post a dog for adoption as the owners were getting a divorce. Now, this happens wherein I'm asked to help place an animal due to circumstances. I take people at their word and do what I can to help. In this case, though, my post was met with an INCREDIBLE amount of bashing, bad mouthing, accusations of being a terrible person / rescue / liar / what ever, so I wanted to put this whole thing to rest.
WHY would I post a lie? Am I getting anything out of it? Nope. No adoption fee, no kickbacks, nothing. NOTHING. I get nothing out of posting for someone who needs help. I don't post details to identify the person. I don't post the location or anything that might point directly at someone. It's not necessary as it's not about the person - it's about the animal in need.
Why would I not take someone's word for a situation? Wouldn't you? Would you, if approached by someone who said that you were recommended to them to help in a situation, doubt them? Why would THEY lie? What are THEY getting out of it? Probably nothing.
Why would I offer to take applications and help find placement for NO fee? Because I want to help. Simple as that. I promised Bandit that I would do what ever I could to help those in need find permanent, loving homes. And for this I get accused of being a horrible, lying bitch.
It was suggested that I hire an attorney and go after the people who posted bashing things about me but in all honesty I don't think it matters. I think they're going to bash anyone they find an issue with.
So for those who expressed interest and concern over a dog in need, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am sorry for the dog. I am sorry for the people involved. I am sorry the bashers are so miserable that they feel the need to publicly execute me and the rescue I've worked 25 plus years to maintain. I will continue my work to try and help animals in need. It's what I do and who I am, and I will not make excuses for it.
