That beautiful winter wonderland can hide a silent, painful danger for our pets: frostbite! Their cute little paw pads 🐾, ears 👂, and tails are just as vulnerable to freezing temperatures as our own skin, if not more so.
A few minutes too long in extreme cold, or even just contact with icy surfaces, can lead to serious damage. As loving pet parents, it’s crucial to know the signs.
What to watch for after your pet has been out in the cold 🔍:
🧊 Pale, gray, or bluish skin on paws, ears, or tail.
🥶 Cold to the touch areas that remain unusually cold.
❗️ Swelling in affected areas.
🤕 Pain or tenderness when touched.
🛑 Blisters or skin hardening in severe cases.
🚶♀️ Limping or reluctance to walk (especially with paw frostbite).
If you suspect frostbite 🩺:
1. Gently warm the affected area with lukewarm (not hot!) water or warm compresses. 💧
2. DO NOT rub or massage the area—this can cause more damage. 🚫
3. Contact your veterinarian IMMEDIATELY. Frostbite is a serious medical emergency that requires professional attention. 📞
A quick check of their paws and ears after every outdoor excursion in freezing temps can make all the difference. Keep those precious pets safe and warm this winter! ❤️🏡

We are so honored to celebrate Colleen, an incredible addition to our family of trusted Home and Pet Guardians! 🌟 Colleen brings a wealth of life experience and a deep well of compassion to our team.
Colleen has been with Four Seasons for Paws for just over 3 1/2 years. After retiring from a career providing customer service in a healthcare environment, she was looking for a new adventure. As Colleen shares, "I was looking for something that was fun, kept me moving, but still gave my husband and I the flexibility to travel a little. When I heard about Four Seasons for Paws I thought that would be a perfect job."
With her lifelong passion for animals, Colleen says, "How could I go wrong getting to love on fur babies?" Her love started young, managing to adopt a stray cat named Waggles despite her mom's no-pets rule! She explains, "My cat Waggles always knew when we would sit down to dinner. He would show up and scratch on the window overlooking our table until he got his handout. Of course I spoiled him."
While she and her husband are currently without their own fur babies (the first time in 40 years!), Colleen says, "To fill that void I'm looking forward to loving on your fur babies." She knows the connection is mutual: "We both have a dog magnet in us that whenever we see a dog we have to get some cuddles. With their owners permission of course."
Colleen's professionalism is matched by her credentials: she is a Certified Pet Sitter and proudly holds certifications in Pet First Aid and CPR. 🚑❤️

This month, we are thrilled to introduce you to the sweetest Golden Retriever, Bishop, affectionately known as Bubba! Thank you to his devoted pet parent, Diana, for sharing his story with us. ❤️
"Bishop “Bubba” came into our lives at the perfect time. We were grieving the loss of our dog Freyja when we stumbled across an adorable picture of a golden retriever nursing her pups. We had been discussing the possibility of a golden retriever, so it seemed meant to be!
We had the ability to choose between a few different puppies from the litter, and I found the idea of choosing the “right” dog to be a bit overwhelming. Bishop seemed excited to interact with us from the very beginning, so he made it an easy decision!
I really cannot even begin to put into words how much we love Bishop and how much he means to us! He just wants to be near us and involved in whatever it is we’re doing. Whether we’re relaxing on the couch, playing outside, or taking a walk around the neighborhood, he is content as long as he’s by our side. He’s not much of a snuggler, but he always makes sure to find a spot at the foot of our bed at night.
His favorite things include side scritches and b***y rubs, peanut butter on bananas, and a yard full of the neighborhood children. He’s a big sweet baby who just wants love and attention! He’s an important part of our family and we wouldn’t have it any other way! We love our big, sweet boy!"

Our Story
For as long as I can remember, I have loved all animals. Every shape and size! From the chipmunks in the yard to the giraffes in the grasslands. Every creature has always held a special place in my heart. As a young lady, it was my passion to care for and save as many animals as I could. I remember bringing home all kinds of surprise pets! (My parents really love me...) Some became members of the family, and some went to good homes. I always made sure that I did everything in my power to ensure a great life for all animals who crossed my path.
When I entered the workforce, I had one mission. It was to be the best I could be at any position that I was granted. I worked in retail, factories, and restaurants. I progressed in each industry, but it seemed that something was always missing. Vacations seemed to be the only time I could experience true happiness.
The vacation that I took in 2014 changed my life forever... I was getting ready to head out for a two week vacation and all was well! Except that a few days before I left, my pet care arrangements fell through. I was in a panic! Who would look after my babies on such short notice? Luckily I have an amazing sister and she cared for my pets while I was away. When I returned from that vacation I remember thinking about going back to work. And how I wasn't exactly overjoyed to go... Then it hit me!! I could do something that would be very much needed and it would be fulfilling... I could be that trustworthy someone to provide amazing care for pets while their owners were at work or out of town! One year later, Four Seasons For Paws came into the world.
Before Four Seasons For Paws could become a reality, I knew that there were many things I needed to know. I immersed myself in books and articles about pet behavior. I took courses about training dogs and evaluating body language. And for the safety of all in my care, I became certified in pet First Aid and CPR. I continue to learn from other pet care professionals in the area. Getting to know the amazing pet care professionals at veterinarian offices, grooming facilities, rescues, supply stores, and other pet sitting companies has brought me so much joy and knowledge. We are all working together to give the pets in our community the healthy, happy lives they deserve!
Providing excellent pet care and peace of mind for their people is my new, heart felt mission in life! I have the opportunity to combine my love for animals and my drive to succeed all in one caring little pet care company! In the last two years, I have been building a team of like-minded, passionate, and professional pet care providers. Having a team has enabled me to expand my dream in the community. Together, our mission is to provide trustworthy, dependable, loving care to our client’s companion animals - in the comfort of their home.
