Relaxing. Processing. Releasing.
For a horse that is naturally on the anxious side when being introduced to a new thing, those are the 3 things that I aim for during a training session. Lily is quite cinchy from a previous trainer flooding her so today we spent time relaxing into the saddling process. Once we could calmly cinch up the saddle, Lily took the time to process (lick and chew with lots of deep breaths). We then worked on some groundwork and then ended with some time for Lily to process through our session and release tension through lots of yawning and deep breathing.
This little mare has so much try, and if I do say so myself, looks extremely cute in a dressage saddle 😍
A HUGE welcome into training to Dakota! She is a rescue horse from ASAP Kill Pen Rescue ☺️ Yesterday was spent working on halter breaking her and then the beginning of leading and giving to pressure! I’m so proud of this smart girl! Dakota went from just running circles being anxious of the unknown in the round pen to relaxing into the halter at the end of our session 🙌🏼 The goal for Miss Dakota is to get her trained and available for adoption into her forever home! #asapkillpenrescues #scnh #naturalhorsemanship #naturalhorsemanshiptraining #colstarting
Cheech was an absolute rockstar on trails yesterday! To build his confidence, we went out with a seasoned trail horse and were ponied given that it has been a while since the last time he was ridden out on trails. He went up and down some pretty big hills, worked on just standing still and taking in the scenery, and overall building confidence! I’m so proud of this sweet boy 🙌🏼 ASAP Kill Pen Rescue
Cheech is back in action and still looking for his forever family! ASAP Kill Pen Rescue
