PARROTS PLAYING AND DEMOLISHING
Part Two of my parrots playing with their toys from the store allforyourfeatheredfriends.com This one cracks me up too. I especially love when I'm whispering and then say that Tippy's crazy as he's demolishing one of the baskets, which is a toy in itself too. I don't think about what I'm saying as I'm video taping....obviously.
MY PARROTS PLAYING
This is part one of a compilation of videos I made of my parrots playing with toys from my online store allforyourfeatheredfriends.com The entire video was twelve minutes even after I trimmed it and sped it up 1.5X's. I was going to remove my voice and add music. When I watched it "as is" it cracked me up so I have left it "as is" for now. They're playing on the banquet table I'd set up for them on Super Bowl Sunday with their baskets of toys I gave them for Christmas. After I recover my piece of toast from Tigger, Military Macaw, you'll see one of my B&G's come and grab the piece of toast and take off.
TIPPY PLAYING
This was Tippy's first time playing on the basket full of toys. He's in here with me, but not on the basket, on my knee. Sometimes they want me more than their toys. That sure makes me feel happy. It doesn't feel like I'm doing nothing. This is like spending time with my child. My human child grew up. Tippy will be about three or four years old, in mental capacity, all his life. So spending time with him keeps him learning new things to say and do every time we play...and he knows he's loved. The toys in the basket and some you can't see are all from allforyourfeatheredfriends.com Tippy didn't know it, but the reason he got his Christmas basket early, wasn't just because I couldn't wait, but since the items were just going into the store I figured I'd capture it on video. The sale is continuing through January if you want to take a look. Because it was a Christmas Sale, a wreath may appear instead of the usual log picture of Tippy with one of his hanging wooden chew toys.
Cookie's Reaction
Meet Sparky, my Timneh African Grey, who's cage was right next to my bed. We (Sparky and Cookie, my Blue Front Amazon) were watching the Alabama vs. LSU game. You can hear Cookie saying "Roll Tide" in the back ground and then you can see him through Sparky's cage. I couldn't have trained him to do what unfolds as I'm talking to him about beating LSU. I'm very excited and apparently it's contagious. I still laugh every time I watch this.
Parrot's Christmas Present
Tippy playing with the new basket full of toys. A Christmas present for all my parrot's to enjoy. I added some more blocks after this video was taken (colored and assorted sizes). There's 45 in this basket along with the other items. Every toy in the basket, including the blocks will be in the store at a special price soon. This is a sneak peek. Tomorrow's Tigger's turn. This was always his most favorite thing we had. I can't wait to see and video tape his reaction. It's been a while since they've had much more besides their hanging parrot toys. The video was kinda long so I trimmed it. He played quit a while. That he chose those wooden blocks first surprised and made me happy. It may be that he hasn't had all these other toys in a while. He does enjoy throwing a few. I am so happy I could fix this up for them. With Winter coming, it's gonna be great that they can come play with this on the bed when I'm stuck in it. I put an old beach towel under it. I could have added some newspapers too, fortunately he didn't have to poop so the towel's still clean. There's a special for all of this, except the basket (I got that a Michael's Craft Store for $6) coming soon. It's definitely better for customers to get a basket on their own than pay the shipping for such a large item. They charge for the size of the box when you get away from the "if it fits it ships" rates and it can get expensive. The basket's what I found works well for me and them. Plus it's portable. I was able to fit all of this in the Medium Flat Rate Size Box. That's $13.45 flat rate shipping. The large is $18.75. I know how to pack a box. Tomorrow I'll check to see if everything will still fit with the additions I added today after I took this video. It's not in the store yet. I've been taking photos for the store, etc. so everything will be ready in a day or two. I hope you enjoy watching Tippy and hearing my silly voice I use when I'm talking to them. I don't know why I do
Welcome to my life with my parrots
I thought today would be the perfect day to let my friends laugh at me. I sure laughed at myself when I watched my own video. I've never heard myself when I'm talking to my parrots. Oh my Goodness! I wondered how, after living so many years up North people continued, up to the day I left, asking me "where are you from?" I get it now. I was born and raised in Georgia and my accent was set for good apparently. I think I did learn to pronounce a few words the same as they do. I doctored it up at bit (cut out some pieces to make it shorter), but I left the sound as is. That is a "genuine song" I am butchering so badly it's unrecognizable. I even added in my own verse because I couldn't remember the real lyrics. Tigger, my Military Macaw is responsible for every parrot in the flock dancing in their own style and that's when I began singing that song. It's our "jam", or was. Tigger now has his real favorite songs on his own dance playlist now. This is the best I could do taking the video and interacting with them at the same time. I didn't intend to leave Cookie out, but he's clearly heard speaking in the background. Laugh away. I "am" a fool for my birds. That just a few moments. You should see what we do the rest of the day
Sparky's Sooo Beautiful
Sparky just recently began doing this. He learned it, or rather, copied it from Tippy, my Bolivian Blue and Gold Macaw. Tippy's the one that's the big ham and loves attention. The more he gets the more he performs, posing to have his picture taken. He actually notices when someone is holding their phone up and before I can tell him to "show how beautiful you are" the command that used to get him to spread both wings, he's already posing, both wings spread wide. Sparky picked up on the attention Tippy was getting for spreading his wings and this was the first time he spread his wings. I am so happy I caught it on video. Usually, as soon as he sees me pick up my phone, he immediately stops doing what I so desperately wanted to document. This time, Yippy! Success. It may not be as big a deal to everyone else, but to me, it is amazing. Since moving Sparky into my bedroom, right next to my bed, he's been doing a lot of amazing things and saying things I had no idea he had been holding in his mind. He hadn't missed a thing. He says everything I ever said when I would be in the parrot's room going around letting each parrot out, playing games (I can't get that on video unless I find someone who is willing to just stand back and us my phone to capture these moments. Sparky spreading his wings made me very happy as you'll hear by my reaction in the video.
Lovable Tigger
Tigger, My Military Macaw loves hanging out in the bed with me. He's quite comfortable lying on his back playing with his feet He sleeps in the bed with me, under the covers, often in the Winter. He's too hot to sleep with in the Summer. He lays either on his back on or his side snuggled right up next to me and I'll lay my arm over him as if he was my favorite teddy bear. When I roll over from one side to the other, I simply hold onto him and he roll him with me. This puts him on his other side too, but he doesn't mind. I spoiled him rotten on purpose when I raised him from three weeks old. He still had me hand feeding him at about five or six months old. I took him to my avian vet fearing something was wrong with him. My vet just laughed and told me Tigger didn't have any problems, but I did...ha ha ha. He said Tigger was "playing" me and would keep letting me hand feed him as long as I was willing to do it. Little bugger. I'm pretty sure all the spoiling is why he never learned to talk and still doesn't talk to this day. He has the ability to, but he never had any reason to. The trade off is worth it. When I take him out of his cage he immediately roles onto his back so I am cradling him just like a baby. He doesn't even hold on, but plays with his feet as you see here. He has so much trust that I will never drop him. He's a fantastic dancer too. Plus the answer to every question is always "yes" as he bobs his head up and down in agreement.
Tippy and I having fun
This is Tippy continuing his version of helping. I just can't help but join in the fun. He's a real ham. When we go for a walk he waves at everyone, even passing cars get a "Tippy Wave". He's always on a feather teather.
Tippy helping refill his toy
Tippy may look a little puzzled in the first frame, but he's just plotting. I brought him in my bedroom to help me refill his toy. This was his idea of helping. Thanks Tippy, I can always count on you.
Cookie wins this argument
My precious Cookie wins this argument hands down and I couldn't help but laugh. You'll notice I try to say something several times, but He wouldn't let me get a single word in. He was very serious about whatever was going on in his mind. It's all my fault he even learned to argue. This is what happens when your child becomes a teenager and reasoning with them just doesn't work. I would lose it and resort to loud lecturing. If you can call it lecturing. More like me just losing it all together. It's funny that Cookie picked it up because it makes me laugh every time he does this and if I'm ever trying to argue with someone and Cookie starts this, I've already lost, because I can't help but laugh. How can you continue arguing when you can't stop laughing?
Cookie talking and receiving "scratchies"
This is my precious "Cookie". If anyone watches the show "The Middle" you'll be familiar with the youngest member of the Breck family, Brick, who often looks down and whispers, repeating a word or phrase from a conversation. In this video "Cookie" does the same thing. I didn't notice until I'd watched the video a few times. I've got my own little "Brick". I have no idea what hes saying, but I thought it was funny when I thought about the character from that show. It has taken a little time to get Cookie to ignore my phone when I am trying to capture him on video. He's finally ignoring the phone. I am on my own when taking photos or videos so it can be a little challenging. Occasionally I get lucky.
