Just got word that we are getting a 2 year old male Corso back that we produced. His temperament is wonderful. Hes had advanced training by 2 trainers I love. Hes been raised in a large family with kids and two other dogs. No issues whatsoever. If you may be interested, please let me know

We are looking to rehome Drama Mama. She is an awesome, loving and loyal girl. Non Negotiable requirements: she must be an ONLY dog, children over 7 OK, no small animals in the home, she will be placed on a strict spay contract with absolutely no breeding. There is no adoption fee but you must have her spayed and bloat tacked within 2 weeks of having her and you must enroll in training to solidify the skills she knows. She will be your ride or die and she does well in public settings. Aloof with strangers, not dog social at all but very neutral. She loves to snuggle, is crate trained and knows basic obedience. She’s 2 years old *

PennHip method of testing for hip dysplasia is the best method of hip testing. A regular OFA, hip extended view is sufficient if the hips are good or excellent. If the hips are fair or below, it’s great to be able to measure the actual laxity of the hip joint. In Corsos, regular health testing has only been done for the last 10 years. Previous to that it was sporadic. Our breed is a work in progress and in order to produce solid temperament and healthy dogs, a breeder must make tough decisions. Health testing is still not a guarantee against disease as there are also environmental, nutrition and activity that factors on whether or not a dog will develop symptoms. At this time it is believed that these other factors play a large role than genetics alone. With the amount of selective breeding that is happening, orthopedic problems should have been eradicated in some breeds such as Labs due to diligent testing and selection for well over 20 years, yet it still occurs. If you have a large breed dog, in my anecdotal experience, I feel feeding kibble for a growing puppy is the best diet. Make sure protein doesn’t exceed 30%, fat shouldn’t exceed 20%. Keep puppies lean, keep them exercised and allow them to run and self regulate their running. I feel this allows them the best chance at a healthy life.

Sumo is still looking for his forever home as a pet. He is 11 months old, devoted to his people, is food motivated and likes to chase a ball. Hes got all the basic skills down such as crate, leash, sits and downs, ignoring people and dogs in public. He needs a quiet adult only home. Mellow dogs in the household OK. He will take a bit to warm up to a new owner but with some hand feeding and practicing his known behaviors it should be pretty fast. There is a rehoming fee. He will not be sold with any breeding rights. My boy…. After a weird neurological issue that responded to a month long high dose course of Doxycycline, he’s made a ton of improvements. By working closely with my vet, we believe he had a tick borne Illness. However he will not be used in the breeding program despite great health testing. Another heartbreak on a dog I feel has one of the best working temperaments out there. This is one of the toughest breeds of dogs to breed responsibly. Health testing is important but there is SO much more that doesn’t show up on a health testing panel. Temperament, Cancer, Epilepsy, brain tumors, and then just some random health problem no one has ever seen before. It happens if youve been in the breed for more than 5 minutes. This breed is also NEW. We’ve only been selectively and a few folks responsibly breeding them for maybe 20 years. Other breeds, like Labs have been selectively and responsibly bred for hundreds of years. Type, temperament and health is much more set. Much more predictable. The Cane Corso is in a crisis, if you haven’t noticed. The high price tag a year ago, folks selling dogs to whoever rolls in with cash, we are flooded with poorly bred examples. There is no easy way to breed good dogs. Hard decisions, tough choices and hoping for the best outcome are all I can do. I’ve gotten pretty good with things, my success has proven that. However, I am restarting my breeding program completely and scaling back dramatically. I’m focusing on longevity in the breed as well as correct stable temperament and a moderate balanced athletic conformation dog. My ideal dog is 100lbs for a female 25” at the shoulder and 115 for a male, up to 27” at the shoulder. I will find out if the breeding we recently did took, at this time my wait list closed for that litter. A little obedience practice at the beach before Callie went home yesterday. So proud of this girl and her people. @sonomacountycanine helped her people with all of her foundation behaviors for public access and task skills.
