Sumo is still looking for his forever home as a pet. He is 11 months old, devoted to his people, is food motivated and likes to chase a ball. Hes got all the basic skills down such as crate, leash, sits and downs, ignoring people and dogs in public. He needs a quiet adult only home. Mellow dogs in the household OK. He will take a bit to warm up to a new owner but with some hand feeding and practicing his known behaviors it should be pretty fast. There is a rehoming fee. My boy…. After a weird neurological issue that responded to a month long high dose course of Doxycycline, he’s made a ton of improvements. By working closely with my vet, we believe he had a tick borne Illness. However he will not be used in the breeding program despite great health testing. Another heartbreak on a dog I feel has one of the best working temperaments out there. This is one of the toughest breeds of dogs to breed responsibly. Health testing is important but there is SO much more that doesn’t show up on a health testing panel. Temperament, Cancer, Epilepsy, brain tumors, and then just some random health problem no one has ever seen before. It happens if youve been in the breed for more than 5 minutes. This breed is also NEW. We’ve only been selectively and a few folks responsibly breeding them for maybe 20 years. Other breeds, like Labs have been selectively and responsibly bred for hundreds of years. Type, temperament and health is much more set. Much more predictable. The Cane Corso is in a crisis, if you haven’t noticed. The high price tag a year ago, folks selling dogs to whoever rolls in with cash, we are flooded with poorly bred examples. There is no easy way to breed good dogs. Hard decisions, tough choices and hoping for the best outcome are all I can do. I’ve gotten pretty good with things, my success has proven that. However, I am restarting my breeding program completely and scaling back dramatically. I’m focusing on longevity in the breed as well as correct stable temperament and a moderate balanced athletic conformation dog. My ideal dog is 100lbs for a female 25” at the shoulder and 115 for a male, up to 27” at the shoulder. I will find out if the breeding we recently did took, at this time my wait list closed for that litter.
