Mr. Steve is in love. He really missed Ms. Sadie and Duchess reminds him of her. :)
Husker's Hope is about the rescue and rehabilitation of Dachshunds in Distress. We are a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization.
The majority of Dachshunds that come to us are in need of medical, emotional or physical rehabilitation. We specialize in the therapies associated with Dachshunds that have suffered IVDD related injuries.

Mr. Neo ~ Lab Mix, 1.3 years old, Male.
Ms. Miya ~ Pitty Puppy, 12 weeks, female.
Mr. Korg ~ Pitt/Bulldog mix, 7 months old, neutered male. We are going to change his name. Korg just doesn't fit. We are thinking "Bugsy" Bugs is a hoot. He loves to play tug-o-war with your or a pal. He's pretty stout for a little guy, coming in around 50 (guess).
Mr. Jax ~ Australian Shepherd Mix, 4 monts old, male.
Mr. Henry ~ Lab x (awaiting dna), 1.4 years old, neutered male.
Mr. Chili ~ Blue Heeler, 4 years old, neutered male.
Ms. Butters ~ Morkie, 1.4 years old, female. We have no history on Butters. She is a sweet, happy girl. She gets along with everyone, big and small, but prefers smaller, who like to run. She will require a fenced yard to do her zoomies without potential for escape. She is house and kennel trained and loves to snuggle next to a human at night.
Mr. Buster ~ Pitty puppy, 12 weeks, male.
Ms. April ~ Bull Terrier, 4 years old, spayed, female.
This is the treatment that 9 of our Hooligans help in the initial trial in Ames, IA. They have started to offer it to kids with IVDD. The drug helps dissolve the debris that is caused by a rupture. Not all IVDD patients would benefit from it, as it has it's limits. As with the surgery, the sooner they can get it, the better success it produces.
When Oscar, a 5-year-old Dachshund, developed partial paralysis from a herniated disc, he became the first dog to experience a new, non-surgical treatment option through a veterinary clinical trial at the Texas A&M Small Animal Teaching Hospital.
The trial, being led by Dr. Nick Jeffery, involves injecting an enzyme to dissolve the herniated disc instead of surgically removing it. This method is faster and less intense than the traditional surgery, and is also much more affordable for owners!

Dasher came through surgery doing great! Had 4 major extractions and 8 smaller ones. Lost both canines where the infection was the worst. The fistulas could not be repaired, due to a lack of gum tissue. But, they hope they will heal somewhat closed in time. He breath is brand new, now that all the infected and loose teeth are gone! He loves to give kisses, so that's a bonus. He had a pretty good meal, and has a pain killer smile bouncing in his step. We'll be watching him, hoping when the pain killers wear off, he's still the happy golden boy!
Thank you to everyone that donated, MUCH appreciated! Will add a photo later, as fb is being a tad fickle, at the moment.

Another success story. Watch Bobo!!! This lil boy came in paralyzed, just under 2 yrs ago. He's Walking! He has become stronger and stronger. Go Bo! (Possible adoption on Sunday) #nevergiveup.
Bellatrix - another success story ❤ Look at this girl run!!! Bellatrix came into the House of Hope, after being down for just a few weeks. Her mommy was given only 2 opinions from the vet .... surgery or euthanasia. As her mommy was torn, frustrated & confused - she reached out to us for help. Her mommy was more than excited to know she wouldn't have to surrender Bella, just allow Bella to stay & get therapy. Bella has made such strides in her ability to wobble walk & uses a K9 Cart as added therapy. Bella is home again, running and playing with her 3 Doxie siblings. Her mommy, Meg LaMafia, is a treasured member to the House of Hope. Please applaud Bellatrix for hard work paying off ❤❤
Look at Sissy play with her paddle paws. Sissy is our girl who recently had 4 large bladder stones removed. She's healing very well, playing and enjoying her belly rubs. We're excited with her progress & looking forward to placing her on the adoption list soon. With medical bills, follow ups & special food, donations/sponsership are needed. This is Maggie. Maggie is 5 months old and is presenting with neurological issues, which limit her ability to mobilize on her own. This video is one, in a series, that we will present in the comments, to include the estimate on the cost of her immediate need, of an MRI/Spinal tap. We need to raise $3000 ASAP. The reason for these procedures is that her issues are located in her cerebellum, and cannot be seen or identified with a simple xray or ct scan. This procedure will be done, on Wednesday, Jun 7 (yes in 2 days), before she flies to Nebraska. We need to know what we are dealing with, without delay. All of the neurologists are MIA in NE, IA & KS. PayPal [email protected] (501c)
Mr. Chili is one happy little fellow. He was just a couple hours from death, when a wonderful thing happened. People from coast to coast stepped up to save him; and we found out, just 1.5 hours to D-time, that he needed a place to go. Well, the wheels are in motion, and he will be here this weekend, thanks to a world of volunteers and supporters, who love him!
