AKC Miniature American Shepherds
We raise and show AKC Miniature American Shepherds in northwest WI. We are located about an hour north of Eau Claire. We strive to produce quality dogs, all health tested and free of genetic defects. There is a standard of perfection for our breed, which is relatively new (recognized to AKC in 2015). We follow this and show in the surrounding areas/states and sometimes further.
Miniature American Shepherds originate from and are the small versions of the Australian Shepherds. They were created by breeding the smaller Aussies over a number of years. Because they are a relatively new breed, their sizes still vary, sometimes smaller, and sometimes larger. The Miniature American Shepherds have a size requirement that falls within 13-18”. While they do not go by weight, most range within the 25-35# range, making them as great as Aussies, but half the size.
Herding breeds, like the Aussie and Mini American, need plenty of exercise and mind stimulation. They are smart, loyal, and willing to please. Often referred to as “wigglebutts” or “velcro dogs”, they enjoy spending time with their humans over all other things. Daily walks, playtimes and mental games keep them occupied and out of trouble.
We raise a couple litters a year, and have a waiting list for new puppy families. If you’re interested in a Mini American as your next companion, please let us know and we can help you find the dog you’ve been waiting for. If you’re interested in showing, whether it is agility, rally, obedience, or conformation, please contact us to discuss your next rockstar. The easiest way to do that is to head on over to our website and tell us a little about yourself and what you’re looking for. Calls are welcome along with emails, but please keep in mind that we are typically outside “playing/training” the pups and dogs for their next adventures and may not respond immediately. If it is a weekend and we are attending a show, it may take a couple days, but we will always answer any questions or concerns that arise.
