Jab is super short, super sweet and super cute! He enjoys people and being under saddle. He is very willing but does require some leg. He is laid back in the barn, in the field and under tack. He will make a great horse for someone getting back in the saddle, just learning and even young riders. He is suitable for any discipline.

America is an extremely classy horse. Very intelligent and patient. He is recovering from a torn suspensory and will be best suited for trails.
This boy has patiently completed his stall rest. He did not act out in any way while patiently waiting for turnout time. He is currently on round pen turnout and is doing great. He trots around and enjoys being in the sun. He has shown us nothing but class while he has been here and will make a fantastic addition to any farm,barn, herd, family.

We have a few youngsters that weren’t sent into training. All have been started under saddle and ready to get to work with you!
They are all geldings and very sweet. They cross tie and stand well for the vet and farrier. Three beautiful and respectful boys waiting for the next partner to ride with!

We have several horse’s that are available for adoption but are still in the rehab phase of transition. They should all be ready to go later this fall or by spring! With the leaves starting to fall and the weather soon to change means less riding time and more bonding time with your new partner! All adoption fees are reduced by half through September. Companion horse’s fees are waived to responsible adopters.

5 yo 16.3 gentle gelding who is healed from a left hind sesamoid fracture and has been off the track since March 2024. He does have a condition similar to string halt on the right hind but this doesn’t affect the trot and canter.
KLUGMAN will be a barn favorite wherever he goes. He will be best suited for dressage, lessons or trails. His trot is huge but not too fast. He’s really just perfect in every way. Very kind, willing and stands well for the vet and farrier. No vices and gets a long with pasture friends. He has potential to make a great lesson horse and he would absolutely LOVE all the little girls he would carry around an arena. Also, he loves treats!

All horses adoption fees are half off through September. Companion horses are free to qualified homes.

URONCILLO ❤️

Ronnie is a 3 yo 16 hh big bodied gelding who has fully rehabbed from a slab fracture and has been under saddle for several months. He is eligible for the RRP 2025 and has been off the track since August of 2023

Ronnie is a classy horse with a big attitude. He is suitable for low level disciplines. He is an easy keeper and easy to work with. He will need to be ridden several times a week and would do best with a confident intermediate rider and up. He is playful in the field and does best with more confident geldings when turned out. He does like to be the boss but isn’t mean towards others.
Ronnie has a nice forward trot and canter and listens well to his rider. He will make a great partner for someone who has ambitions of climbing the ranks in the show world. He could also make a fantastic ranch horse where he can use his mind as well as his body.
All horses adoption fees are half off through September. Companion horses are free to qualified homes.

These 3 lovely boys are looking for a permanent home where they will be loved and can provide companionship to other horses. All 3 are very well behaved and get along well with other geldings. PROMISE ME A RIDE

4 yo 16.2 hh gelding who retired in February. He has had lots of time off and is now ready to get back to work.

Promise did well on his first ride and was willing and forward. He is a little weak in his hind end and will benefit from regular work to build up those muscles.

A nice horse to work with and ride. He should be suitable for lower level disciplines.

🙏So thankful to receive such generous support from the horsemen of Indiana HBPA and Horseshoe Indianapolis Racing & Casino. Board member Sean Beirne and his wife Mary (also a Second Stride volunteer) were on hand for the presentation ceremony with HBPA Director Tim Glyshaw and HBPA president trainer Joe Davis. TIME MISS is a super fun, athletic, forward little filly with a lot of talent and potential. She retired injury free and is suitable for any discipline. She is super fun to ride and at the canter, can be a tiny challenge. She is a great listener and responds well to confident riders. She will make a great sport horse and has the looks to wow not only the crowd but the judges as well!

This guy 👇🏻 has absolutely no desire to go anywhere quickly. We adore him. He is just one of those laid back, chill guys that enjoys a ride on a beautiful day with his person. He meanders around the arena at a nice, slow pace without having to use too much leg and takes a leisurely walk around the farm just checking things out. He is suitable for trails, dressage, any type of flat work that he doesn’t need to go fast in! Lessons or possibly a therapy horse. He has the height and build for a husband horse as well. He’s a 💎.

3 yo 16.2 plus hh gelding. A sweet and intelligent boy, he has settled in well to retirement and an easy horse to work with. He does like to be the herd boss but does do well with more submissive geldings.
He did have an Injury to his right front suspensory which is healed and had chips removed from the left front.
Suitable for trails and light flat work.

Now that summer is coming to an end and fall is upon us we dream of enjoyable, long trail rides on our favorite trails or venturing to new places with our best 2 and 4 legged friends. If this also describes you then you are in LUCK! All of our horses are suitable for trails BUT some are suitable for only trails and they are listed below. This journey has served a high purpose, bonding many for a common cause. All for the horse. Proud to be a part.

We're so happy to report on Miss Mo Mesa's recovery journey after a race injury almost cost her life. Thanks to the team of people who stepped up to help to donate funds, transport and surgical services at cost. We thought interested parties would like to see her thriving and being cared for by Second Stride (including Anne Steinbock, pictured). Thanks to all who banded together to help this sweet girl:

We are over the moon excited for COMPOSER’S DREAM,now named Reve. Not only did he find his home, but he was a surprise present to his own teenage girl!!!! ❤️🥰 We are so excited to see how far these two go and can’t wait to see how he bonds with her.
Composer was a joy to have in our herd and we are sure he will be loved and spoiled in his new home.

9yo tb gelding 16 plus hh. MR.RITZ is kind and easy to work with. He is quiet in his stall and turns out well with other geldings. He is a world traveler being bred in GB and raced in CA he made his way to the USA 🇺🇸 2 weeks ago and has adjusted well. He has a nice forward trot and canter and really seemed to enjoy being ridden. His first in about 4 years! He will need at least an intermediate rider for now.

Yearling gelding that was never sent to the racetrack. He is a gorgeous piece of eye candy and just as kind. He will need the rest of the year off to grow into himself a bit before being started under saddle. He should be suitable for any discipline.
He stands well for the vet and farrier and we haven’t seen any vices.

Who likes the short boys? 🖐️
We have 2 very short, very talented and very cute vertically challenged boys.

I’M A FAN OF A JAB stands 15.2 at 3yo.
He spends his days under his fan napping and picking at his hay. He is a fun ride but doesn’t need to go fast if you don’t want him to, unless there is a lawnmower or weedwhacker around, then hang on. Jab is looking for someone that enjoys lazy rides around the farm but can have some fun hopping over rails as well. He enjoys laid back geldings to turn out and he won’t eat your fences.

KINGFISH STEVENS stands 15.2 hh at 4 yo. He spends his days in a round pen while his leg heals from an injury. He is an intelligent boy and very kind. He enjoys laying under the fan in his stall in the evenings dreaming about hitting the show ring one day with his future partner.
