A big "THANK YOU" to Tuna and her owner, Stephanie, for representing ChRC on the Local Fox 47 News in May. Dr. M appreciates you!
ChRC, owned by Dr. Nicole Maurer, is a mobile in-client home veterinary rehab center serving in and around the Jackson and Lansing areas of Michigan!
Dr. M is a small animal veterinarian who is also certified in companion animal rehabilitation therapy!
A big "THANK YOU" to Tuna and her owner, Stephanie, for representing ChRC on the Local Fox 47 News in May. Dr. M appreciates you!
Here we go again...time for Friday's Fitness Feat! Work the hindlimbs - have your dog hold forelimbs up (or hindlimbs down) for 30 seconds. Just follow Tuna on her stairs! And if you’re feeling spry, you can wall sit for 30 seconds.
And this is her enjoying a summer activity with her owner without even knowing she’s doing rehab work! Look at those forelimbs up, putting emphasis on her hindlimb musculature with her head slightly to the left, naturally shifting her weight to her right hindlimb. Perfect, absolutely perfect!
In case you needed motivation for F3 - here's Tuna doing hers! That girl is working for her food! Dr. M would like to point out that Tuna has beautiful hindlimb extension here - the best she has seen!
F3 again! Do 3 cookie stretches with you dog and if you want, hold a plank for 30 seconds!
After her rehab evaluation, it was recommended that Tuna start with therapeutic exercises to build up her muscles in her right hindlimb – see her fancy moves below. Backwards walking is great for hindlimb extension – she has to extend her hindlimb behind her body before she places the foot and bears weight.
Meet Tuna – she has RIGHT hip disease. Her right hip isn’t as well formed as her left hip. As a result, she experiences discomfort in her use of her right hip and alters her gait to alleviate her discomfort. Tuna was brought to Dr. M when her owner noticed her turning her right hindlimb in compared to the left.
Check out Dr. M on the local Fox 47 News today - airing times of 9:45am and 4:45pm!
Great and exciting news again for ChRC! DR. M will be airing on the local Fox 47 News channel tomorrow at 9:45am and then again at 4:45pm discussing companion animal rehabilitation! Check her out!
ChRC wants to take this day to shout out to all the owners out there striving for a better quality of life for their pet and to be constantly strengthening the human animal bond. ChRC appreciates all your hard work ... from your pets to you...thank you 💜🐾💜
F3 again! Have your dog do 5 lay to stand and if you want, do 5 lunges each leg this next week.
Mr. Kodie's owner is constantly looking for multiple ways to help alleviate his pain. This is called a multi-modal approach to pain control - many times including oral medications, injectable medications, PEMF therapy, photobiomodoulation (cold laser) therapy, and aquatic therapy. All of these treatments are examples of a multi-modal approach for Mr. Kodie's pain control. Here's Mr. Kodie in the comfort in his own home on his own PEMF bed that his owner has purchased for him since it helps his comfort so much! Even his stuffed platypus is getting pain relief 💜
F3 time! Have your dog do 5 sit to stands and if you want, you do 5 squats this next week.
Meet Shelby - Mr. Kodie's owner. She is a wonderful human being who is constantly looking for ways to help reduce Mr. Kodie's pain and improve the quality of his life. He's on lots of oral meds and let's face it, sometimes oral meds don't go as planned....the pet won't take them or they don't provide enough relief. Don't forget about companion animal rehabilitation for those pets - rehab is able to provide pain relief in so many noninvasive, non-pharmaceutical ways! Contact ChRC today to help you and your pet in your journey for a pain free life!
Meet Mr. Kodie! He's definitely a senior citizen who is affected by osteoarthritis in multiple areas, back disease, and had a fractured right hindlimb many years ago. He deals with a lot of compensatory pain.

Here's Apollo trying out the PEMF mat to help with reduce his pain and inflammation. He tried really hard to fit his entire BIG body on the mat! Just 15 minutes worth of treatment and Apollo is feeling good! Do you think he minds his rehab therapy 🤪?

💜In case you missed it - here's Dr. M representing ChRC on the local FOX 47 News! She'll be having segments once a month through July 2024 highlighting rehabilitation therapy in our companion animals! The next session is scheduled to air March 12, 2024 at 9:45am and 4:45pm! 💜
The simple motion of giving "paw" or "shake" works elbow flexion. Elbow flexion is necessary to preserve in dogs with elbow dysplasia. Tdog also likes to grip his human's hand once the motion is over which also helps with range of motion of his toes too!
Watch Tdog work his forelimb musculature as he goes from down to sit. This also works his core strength as well. Think of ab "roll outs" for people! Make sure your pet has a stable and nonslip surface to do exercises on!
