I have had the pleasure of having pyrs in my family since 2004 when I bought my first girl Misty from a pet store more as a rescue then anything. She was 12 weeks old and was in a cage where she could hardly turn around and couldn't stand or stretch out at all. She weighed 9 lbs and was a pitiful little ball of fluff. At 12 weeks she should have weighed at least 20-30 lbs. I rushed her to the vet

and get her started on meds for a horrific parasite overload. The vet told me if I hadn't taken her she would have been dead in a day or 2. She was a $1200 rescue but it was worth it! Misty turned out to be the best dog. Sadly she developed a brain tumor and left us 2 years ago but we will never forget her!
