Pictured here is one of our Ouluphyllia bennettae mother colonies. While not a new release from TerraReef these are only occasionally up for sale due to their slow growth rates. Like many large polyp stony corals they will attempt to feed more often at night and can use sweeper tentacles to protect their patch of reef. We also have both Green and Purple Montipora digitata back in stock.

Had to share this photo for those who love the super blue look in their reef tanks. Some people look at a photo like this and say, “it looks hungry”, but this coral certainly isn’t starving. Our tanks have tons of food items available in the 24/7 and no fish or invertebrates that would peck at extended polyps. We only sell fat happy growing corals. This quarantined aquacultured WYSIWYG Micromussa is currently available.

This variety of Micromussa is a new offering from TerraReef, but any true coral collectors will recognize it immediately. Those with a sharp eye may have noticed it in the corner of our last post. This is the "Holy Grail Micromussa Coral F2M". The species name is believed to be Micromussa amakusensis which some in the hobby refer to as, “The original Micromussa” as they have remained a part of this genus and traded under that name as far back as anyone can remember. Just a few years ago these corals were extremely expensive, but because of aquaculture efforts they have become much more affordable. Their care requirements are virtually identical to Micromussa lordhowensis which they resemble closely accept for the significantly smaller polyp size in M. amakusensis. This coral came through quarantine the same time as the Raging Storm Micromussa we shared yesterday using the same procedures. These can be found on sale now at https://www.TerraReef.com/collections/aquacultured-Micromussa

As we announced in a recent post TerraReef’s aquacultured corals and invertebrates are back in stock! With this news we also shared that we were rolling out several new releases. A single small frag of each of these corals was purchased from another vendor that sells 100% aquacultured animals and says they quarantine everything. The frags we received we kept in quarantine for 246 days under frequent observation. We removed them from their plugs and dipped multiple times. Then these corals were grown out and fragged multiple times for over a year before their release.

One of these new corals is the Raging Storm Micromussa. We did not name this coral, but kept the name for those collectors out there. As with all Micromussa these are very hardy corals and would be a great first LPS coral in our opinion. They can do well in a variety of conditions and love to be spot fed(though they do not require it in most reef tanks). These have an intense orange and light green that reminds us of many old school, "Scoly corals" (perhaps more properly called Homophyllia australis as they are no longer a part of a Scolymia genus).

See these and more at TerraReef.com

We have also added three new releases to the site with more on the way soon! As always everything goes through our strict quarantine procedures and is 100% aquacultured.

As we prepare to make some BIG changes at TerraReef we set up a temporary 100 gallon system (60g tank+40g sump) as another backup and to give us more working room in the other systems. Less than 24 hours in the tank and the coral seem to be doing alright.
One of these images was taken with a Cannon EOS90D DSLR with a bit more full spectrum lighting and the other with a Google Pixel 6 Pro with a bit heavier on the blues.(both images with a colored lens filter, Radion G6 lighting)

Lots of things have been going on recently, but let us shift focus back to what we are all really here to see... CORAL! Pictured here is what hobbyists often refer to as, “Candy Cane Coral” or Caulastrea furcate. These are one of the best possible LPS corals for beginning reef keepers in our opinion. Behind this individual specimen you can see the glow of mother colonies in the distance. We have hundreds of polyps of the color variety and a few other color varieties of candy cane growing out as well.

Please sign this to support common sense rules in Florida. Ask Fish and Wildlife not to use an ill-advised whitelist of animals that can be kept. All you need to do is add your name to the following statement, "A viable option I support would be a list of prohibited species, which would be a much smaller, manageable and enforceable list than one that attempts to encompass all allowed species. Nitrates in our main system are running a bit higher than they have in a while (currently at about 3ppm) and it feels like the Zoanthids are loving it. They seem to be growing a bit faster than usual and look great!
Pictures are both our Mint Chocolate Chip Zoanthids and Red Zoanthids. These are both available as WYSIWYG and Stock frags currently, but there are limited quantities of these left that are ready to ship.
