Hey 👋🏼 I’m Sparrow (he/him), I’m a trans man, a lover of nature, humans, and animals.
There is so much more to me than my business, although I absolutely love what I do; who I am is a big part of why I am in the dog profession.
I’m adopted, and I feel really grateful for my family and loved ones. I was adopted at a young age (3 days old) and have always been loved, which is truly a blessing. As I grew older I started to wonder why I birth family gave me up, and when I became a pre-teen I became angry and reactive.
Not because my hike life wasn’t supportive, but because I didn’t fully understand or see the full picture. Sometimes when we only see parts of things we can become frustrated, especially when we don’t have control over things.
Fast forward many years, I now work with reactive doors and their families. And I believe that I have a lot in common with reactive dogs as I was a very reactive child.
A lot of the time the home environment where the dog lives is wonderful, the dog is cared for, and each person is doing their absolute best; and the dog is still reactive..kind of like me as a kid.
In those instances it’s about understanding the dog from the inside out, having compassion for their experiences, seeing them for who they are in the moments of turbulence, and finding a way forward that helps the people and dog through love.
We all have demons we are working through, but if we don’t befriend our demons and ask them how we can honor and help release them they won’t ever move on. So at WeiserWays we seek to look the dogs and humans shadows head on with compassion, kindness, love, and empathy to find our way through.
Your dog is not bad, horrible, a menace, and there is nothing wrong with them…they just need some extra TLC and guidance to help them through.
