Any bottle feeders willing to work with FURR until this baby is big enough to eat on his/her own? We were contacted by a 13-year-old girl last night who found this kitten in the road. She reached out to a bottlefeeding rescue, but she does not have the $50 required to surrender the kitten because she’s only 13. She’s doing a great job so far with some coaching on taking care of this baby, but we would certainly like to see an experienced bottle feeder take over care until we can take the kitten into the rescue when it is big enough to eat on its own.
Thanks! We are very proud of this young woman! Such a caring mature person 🧡

Meet Buddy!

He has been with FURR for TWO YEARS. He deserves a family of his own.

He is a little shy at first but once he knows you he is a LOVE 💕

Here he is cuddling on the couch with his foster mom, taking a break from biscuit making.

We aren’t sure why no one has EVER asked about him. He has not received an application ever. 😭

Maybe it’s because he has FIV? Maybe people don’t know that FIV Is not contagious to friendly housecats and they live normal healthy lives indoors.

We aren’t sure, but Buddy is great with cats and dogs and would do great in a chill household.

Meet Raven & Beans!!!
Please SHARE this post to help us ❤️❤️

10 month old sisters (double adoption) and currently in our habitat at in .

Notes from their AMAZING foster…

Raven: she’s a beautiful, crazy, cuddly kitten! Must be held and petted daily. She will pay you back with lots of love, affection and purrs! She has a special squeaky meow! Her sister (Beans the braver one) leads the way. Once it’s safe Raven is not far behind. Has lived with other cats and been around small dogs. Alone at night can cause her to share your bed. Play, love, eat, repeat! Please give me and my sister (Beans) a permanent home, we will not disappoint!

Beans: brave, sweet, loving, soft little girl. Curios, endless play and a great fly catcher. Does not just chase but has a great catch record. No surface too high! Must be petted and love daily. So soft!! Comforts her sister Raven. Beans is not afraid of much and usually leads the way for her sister. And if she gets scared it’s not long before her curiosity gets her back front and center! Always first! She needs people, play, petting and love!! Beans and Raven have been looking for a permanent home so long! If you can love one kitten it’s just as easy to love and take care of two! Please give us a forever home!! 👍

Part of being a great cat owner is the care you give them AFTER adoption.

From a veterinarian’s website:

“It is very important to have a veterinarian examine your cat at least once a year, twice yearly as they mature.

Cats age significantly faster than humans and therefore it is imperative for cat owners to stay on top of wellness exams in order to catch any potential health problems before they begin.

Most cat illnesses are much easier and less expensive to treat and cure when caught in the early stages before they progress or develop complications. Therefore, regular cat wellness exams are the cornerstone of preventive veterinary medicine.

Cats are good at hiding any type of illness, by being quiet and hiding. You may not be fully aware that something is wrong since cats can be experts at hiding pain or discomfort. By nature, cats are independent animals, however they still need to be examined by a veterinarian at least yearly.

As a cat owner, you should be aware of any changes in eating habits, playfulness and general overall health. If you notice any changes in behavior, such as a change in eating habits, not greeting you the way they normally would, reluctance to jump up or move around the way they typically would… these are the subtle signs of what could be a serious health problem, and it is time to schedule a veterinary exam.

Of course, we realize that some cats don’t like getting into the cat carrier and going for a ride. In these circumstances, we recommend coaxing your cat into his carrier by using a treat, and trying to soothe your kitty during the car ride. Additionally, utilizing a pheromone spray on a towel that goes into the carrier and in the car can help soothe your cat during the ride.”

🖤 Nico & Nova 🖤

Nico (black and white, 7) and Nova (black, 5). Currently a double adoption. While Nico would be fine without Nova, she certainly needs him.

Nico is a velcro kitty who follows you around, is talkative, and super affectionate. He’s great with dogs.

Nova is a little more shy and is a night owl. She likes to sleep all day, then come out and play in the evening. She loves feather toys.

This big, beautiful, friendly boy came into our clinic today for neutering.

Upon exam, it was discovered he was recently fixed… his back end was still shaved and still had incision scars. But NO MICROCHIP.

This is why we require a microchip at our clinic. It literally saves lives.

The harsh realities of rescue. Some you can’t save.

This litter has been a great struggle for us.

A few months ago several in the litter started limping. They were seen at urgent care several times and at first we thought it was calicivirus which can cause limping but is treatable. However, they were not getting better, so on the third visit x-rays were done. It showed thickening of the bones.

Several specialists viewed the xrays and it was determined they needed a biopsy as it could possibly be a rare infection.

When they went for the biopsy, additional x-rays were done and it showed the bones had been eaten away in several places such as hips and elbows and unfortunately on 3 of the 4 limbs. There was nothing we could do but end their suffering.

Now we are desperately trying to save their sibling Theo. He does not have the limb lameness, but does have several lumps.

He’s had two biopsies, and we are trying to determine the best course of action.

The countless vet visits, x-rays, antibiotics and biopsies is really becoming a financial strain. If you can find it in your hearts and budgets please consider a small donation. Any amount helps.

🧡 Adopt Tanner - 3 legged cat 🧡

You may have seen our post last month about this sweet boy who needed to have one of his back legs amputated.

Thank you to all who donated towards his care! Your support is the reason we can say YES when people find injured or sick cats.

Now Tanner has healed and is ready to find his furrever home.

Tanner is a sweet boy around 2 years old who loves attention and is affectionate! He loves kittens/cats, kids, and does not mind the dog in his foster home.

He had to have one of his back legs amputated because of some type of trauma that happened to him while trying to survive outside.

Having only 3 legs doesn't stop him. He is now pain-free and looking for a family to call his own.

He is fully vetted, including neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, flea/dewormer treated, and microchipped.

APPLY NOW to meet this sweet boy!

Double Adoption

Meet Jiro and Dash - bonded 9-month-old male kittens

Jiro is a kitten who loves people. He frequently runs out of the foster kitten room but never actually goes anywhere because he just wants to be around his foster family. He loves to play and be held. He believes that anytime is a good time for making biscuits. He is the last of his litter and has developed a strong bond with Dash.

Dash was rescued as a single kitten. He was very scared and it took a while for him to learn to love people. He lives up to his name and will dash around the room while playing with Jiro or to see what his foster family is up to. He is still cautious in new situations. He likes to sit on the shoulders of his foster family and will tolerate being held on his own terms. If separated from Jiro he will cry until Jiro returns. He is looking for a family that will be patient while he becomes comfortable in a new home.

The boys are bonded and need to be adopted together.

Both have been neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, dewormer/flea treatment, and microchipped.

Please SHARE to help them find a forever home!

PSA!

This adorable guy was hospitalized at a local vet with a urinary blockage and needed surgery. A friend of the owner reached out to a FURR volunteer, asking for advice, because poor Oreo was at risk of euthanasia not because of a lack of love, but because of the high cost of surgery!

He had already accumulated a $3000 hospitalization bill but now his surgery would cost between $5000 and $8000. This is just not a feasible number for most pet owners.

The FURR volunteer suggested to contact The Bridge Clinic near Philadelphia. They are a nonprofit surgical center. They were able to perform the life-saving surgery for around $1000!

Places like this are so important and we give them tremendous credit for all their hard work and dedication!

We wanted to share the story in hopes it could save another cat down the line.

Mamma Mia, that's a lot of kittens!

We named this sweet girl Mamma Mia because she had 5 kittens in the spring, then 9 more kittens in the summer of 2023!

With the help of the lady who found her outside, her first litter this year was rescued, but Mamma Mia remained elusive.

When she was pregnant again this summer, she allowed the caring finder to bring her inside to have her kittens. She has been indoors ever since.

All her kittens were either adopted or are awaiting adoption in rescue, and Mamma herself has been spayed and fully vetted.

Too many people see a female cat who reproduces as a nuisance, but Mamma Mia’s caring finder taught Mamma that humans can be good. Now Mamma is in a loving FURR foster home where she can enjoy a life of leisure.

She is very sweet and loves attention and affection. She has the cutest little meow to greet you or let you know she wants something.

Still just a young cat herself, she is playful at times but is mostly content to relax, look out the window, be cozy, and interact with the other cats in her foster home.

She adapted very quickly to the other cats, both male and female, in the home. She will rub heads and gets along very well with them.

Mamma has thrived in foster care. She is easy to pick up and handle, and loves to be brushed and petted. She also loves to eat, so she can be easily won over with a delicious treat or plate of food.

😻 MEET ANGUS ❤️

Angus is a true family man. He was trapped as part of a TNR operation on New Year’s Eve and proved to be far too much of a lovebug to go back outside.

He went right from being neutered to his foster family’s house, and he was so happy and relieved. His dirty coat became a stunning white and smokey gray. The wounds on his chin and chest healed. He realized he was safe.

“Angus the man-gus” is likely about 2-3 years old (our best guess, but we really aren’t sure). He is up to date on vaccinations, FeLV and FiV negative, litterbox trained, and fixed. He’s extremely easy to handle and can be easily picked up and carried around. He doesn’t love it, but he doesn’t object either. 😂

Angus lives with two other cats, a cat-savvy dog, a guinea pig, three human brothers, and his foster parents. It’s a busy house, and he fits right in. He enjoys lounging in the sun and sleeping on the couch. When he’d like some quiet time, he retreats to the finished basement for a nap. Often, he joins the resident kitten in a game of tag at 6am.

He’s very talkative and has a teeny, tiny meow for such a big cheeky tomcat.
Angus is about 11 pounds, but he tries to curl up on your lap (and often falls off like a klutz) or cuddles behind your knees when you sleep.

He loves being petted, but can get overstimulated with a lot of pets and play nip. The good news is that he is very communicative and once his foster family learned this, they’ve watched his body language and it hasn’t been an issue. In fact, the seven year old human in the house says Angus is his favorite foster cat ever!

Angus is looking for a soft couch, warm lap, overflowing bowl of cat food, and endless love and affection! He has so much love to give and is searching for his forever family!

APPLY today to meet Angus!

Meet Miles, a very special kitten who has cerebellar hypoplasia. CH is a developmental condition in which the cerebellum of the brain fails to develop properly. The cerebellum is the portion of the brain that controls fine motor skills, balance, and coordination. The condition is not painful or contagious.

As you can see, Miles is thriving in a wonderful foster home, happy as can be. His loving foster is experienced and knows how to feed him and set up his environment for his comfort.

He should be ready for adoption next month.

Miles is dog-friendly and would love a home that has a cat friend for him.

Enjoy this video of Miles! Turn up the sound 🎶
