We wrapped up the weekend with six more adoptions, which makes THIRTEEN in total!! 🎉🎉 Yesterday Malibu was adopted, and Leonard and Asher found their special home together!! And of course, the perfect home was also found for Miss Napa!!

We celebrate each and every win, and sometimes we are so thankful that we are brought to tears! Asher is such a gentle soul that had lived in fear before someone snatched him out of a bad situation. He was living in a feral colony and was being beaten up badly. He had wounds that were both mental and physical. He would never fight back against the aggressive kitties, even when they were smaller than him and he could have defended himself.

He flourished in foster, and now he will continue to thrive with his friend Leonard!

Thank you so much to our amazing FRI adoptive families. You share our mission of love, and we couldn’t be more thrilled!

Shelter is a basic need, and not just a luxury.

Being outdoors 24/7 isn’t “freedom.” For homeless cats, it’s a daily fight for survival. From heatstroke or hypothermia, predators, and parasites, the elements are relentless. Every day millions of cats pay the price with their lives.

Whether they were born outside or abandoned there, no cat should be left without safe shelter.

Let’s create a world where every cat has a safe place to land! Here’s how you can help make shelter a right, not a privilege:

• Foster a cat or kitten! Even short term fosters save lives.

• Build or place outdoor shelters for community cats in your neighborhood. Safe spaces for them to rest are rare!

• Support TNR programs and rescues to reduce the population and protect the cats who remain in the colony.

No cat deserves a life of fear, pain, or neglect, but 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐲 they are kicked from their homes, starved, poisoned, left outside in extreme weather, or dumped when they’re no longer “convenient.” They are left to fend for themselves without food, water, and shelter. This isn’t just sad, it’s cruelty, and it’s not rare.

The cats can’t speak for themselves, but we 𝐂𝐀𝐍 speak for them!

🚨 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭 is starvation, untreated injuries and illnesses, and exposure to extreme temperatures, just to name a few.

🚨 𝐀𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐞 is violence, causing intentional fear, poisoning, and purposeful harm.

🚨 𝐀𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 is when cats are left behind after moves, tossed outdoors, or “set free” to fend for themselves. Often, they can’t.

Do you want to take a stand? Here’s how:

🔎 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 suspected cruelty! Don’t assume someone else will.

📚 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 others about humane treatment and cat behavior. Who better to educate others on cat behavior than us cat lovers! There are a ton of credible resources and YouTube videos to assist with behavioral issues.

🛠️ 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 rescues and shelters that rehabilitate cruelty victims. These kitties often come to us in worst case scenarios, and miraculously, they haven’t given up on humans as a whole.

📢 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 this post to raise awareness!
Let’s be that unwavering voice that speaks up, the hands that help them heal from what others have done to them, and the people who never look away from the hard stuff.

*DISCLAIMER!! The photo in the post is the most adorable kitten in the world! IN THE COMMENTS we will add a video to show his wound, as well as a photo to show how much progress he has made. The image is hard to look at, so please consider enjoyingng his sweet face without looking at the comments if it will be difficult for you.

We’d like to introduce a very special little boy to you. We’ve had him for a bit, hoping and praying that he’d get better. When we say he is strong, we mean it. Heck, he is stronger than we are! We can barely talk about him without crying!

This baby is roughly seven weeks old, and he has already been through more than most senior cats. He was burnt by a motor and had a burn that created a gaping wound, a broken right front leg, and infection in his back leg.

When he was first brought to the vet his prognosis wasn’t great. We thought that we were at least looking at a double amputation for both of those legs, but with some pretty strong meds and the care of an amazing vet and fosters, the infection is clearing up and the break is healing nicely as well. They say he will always have a limp, but that’s better than missing two legs.

If genies were real, and we could wish for more wishes, we would. We’d wish for an end to kitten seasons. For policy makers that would take the wellbeing of animals seriously. We’d wish for all of this suffering to end.

But there are no magic lamps, and so far policy makers continue to not make any meaningful legislation to lessen the burden on the cat population, and those of us that work tirelessly to try to save them.

We are beyond full. We’re turning away kittens because there’s simply no space left. Our vet bills are piling up. And we are running low on canned kitten food, which is critical for the little ones who can’t eat dry.

✨ Please consider donating:
(If you’d prefer to drop it off in person you may leave donations at Right Meow Cat Cafe, or even come to PetSmart this weekend from 12-4 on Saturday and Sunday!)

Animal Rights Awareness Week – Day 3: The Right to Medical Care

For homeless and community cats, even the smallest health issue can quickly turn into a life threatening crisis! Upper respiratory infections spread through their little bodies, untreated wounds cause deadly infections, and parasites drain fragile kittens before they’ve had a chance to thrive.

Medical care isn’t a luxury! It’s the thin line between comfort and suffering.

• Vaccines protect against panleukopenia, calicivirus, and rabies. They’re diseases that still kill SO many strays every year.
• Spay/neuter surgery prevents painful complications and stops the endless cycle of more kittens being born into a system that is already stretched too thin.
• Emergency care for things like broken bones, abscesses, or gunshots can give an animal a second chance at life.

However, vet bills add up fast, and street cats don’t often have caregivers. That’s where we, the community that loves cats, step in.

How you can help save nine lives, and then some??

• Donate toward medical funds at your local rescue or low cost clinic.
• Sponsor a spay/neuter surgery, or a vaccine package.
• Volunteer as a transport driver! Sometimes getting cats to the vet is half the battle.
• Share this post to remind friends that proactive care saves lives and reduces long term costs.

No cat should endure pain because care was out of reach. They all deserve love, kindness, and compassion. Let’s treat health care as a right, not a privilege.

Our Story

Facilitate Rescue, Inc. is a small, all volunteer rescue founded in 2017 and dedicated to helping the cats and kittens who have found themselves at the Harnett County Animal Shelter. As cat lovers, these volunteers were heartbroken about the lack of rescue help for the cats in this rural area and have banded together to make a difference in the number of adoptable kittens and cats being euthanized at the shelter. It is also our mission to educate the community about the importance of spay/neuter and trap-and-release programs.

The volunteers of Facilitate Rescue pull cats from the shelter and provide them with temporary housing (foster care), socialization and vet care until they are adopted or transported to one of our out-of-state rescue partners where they may have more adoption exposure. Volunteers are always welcome and are needed to foster and transport cats!
