A first time ever, all three babies born to a mom were female. These girls are all very sweet already with beauty to match. While these cuties are already reserved, there are spots available on the Priority List through the end of 2024.

It’s been a bit of a rough patch for my breeding program with babies. I was so excited to find a mom with babies in nest on my morning check.

My hedgehogs are my passion and I’m always so very grateful when I have babies to love on and share with others.

On a personal note - I was making cages and managed to get some of the wire embedded in my finger without knowing it (photo 👇🏻). Had a little minor surgery and on the mend.

I apologize to anyone contacting me about babies. I’m expecting some any day and think it’s highly possible there will be enough to add some spaces on the Priority List.

I was so shocked and thrilled when I saw what this girl grew up to look like! To be absolutely honest, she was not a very pretty baby. 😂 I’m so excited for her babies likely coming late fall or early winter.

Omgoodness! I absolutely cannot understand how these two absolutely adorable and amazingly sweet babies are still looking for their forever home! My sweetheart baby Bella received a very serious diagnosis at the vet today. Heading to get a second opinion in TN to hopefully not euthanize her. Prayers and positive thoughts are so very welcomed.

If you have hedgehog concerns, please still let me know and I will be in touch as soon as I can. Hedgehogs are safe and Priority List will be updated as soon as I can given this possibly tremendous potential loss. If you have immediate concerns, please PM me - the issue as the subject will be extremely helpful. I may ask one of the wonderful and knowledgeable reputable and pedigreed hedgehog breeders I work with to get in touch with you if necessary.

I absolutely love my Bella and love this dog more than myself. She’s been best friend for 9 years and service dog only slightly less. She’s my heart.

I apologize profusely if I am slow to respond. I am a real human with a life and loves. I spend extraordinary amount of time with my hedgehogs. At times (but rarely) I do have to take of my own life and other animals.

Dahlia came to Sugar and Spice Hedgies as her family was not able to care for her any longer. Hopefully, there’s a home where she gets lots of love, attention and treats.

What I know from her prior owners is she around 2 years old and was purchased at a pet store. She had been eating nasty “hedgehog food” but I’ve been weaning her onto appropriate cat food.

She came with a cage that can go home with her. She will still need a proper heat setup and wheel.

She is a lil shy but does warm up. Loud noises (even a sneeze) can scare her. When she feels safe she’s very sweet and curious. Ideally, she will find a home with prior hedgehog experience, or a person with time and patience for a timid quill baby. I am happy answer any questions, provide more information and make appointments to visit and meet her before adopting. Dahlia is with me here in Bowling Green, KY.

I am so proud of this mom! She struggled with her first babies but has rallied and is doing an amazing job! Her four littles are happy, healthy and gaining weight! Mama is amazing and I know her babies will grow up to be fantastic!!!

Currently I’m enjoying fostering an absolutely stunning mom and her four hoglets. All the spectacularly adorable hedgehogs are healthy and doing awesome.

Nest cams are truly fantastic for safely allowing nest activity to be viewed with zero interference or contact (baby safety requires zero interaction for a time following birth). Today I luckily enough to catch baby playtime while mom tidied up the nest. The video with the cuteness overload:

I truly believe a person cannot understand patience until they have a nest cam showing littles and then waiting 2 1/2 weeks to hold the adorable peanuts!!!

**As is my common practice, there’s no touching or disturbing mama’s nest with newborn babies. I am a crazy vo**ur with the nest cam though!**

This mama is amazing and her baby clearly loves it! Odd baby was outside the nest, but mom successfully raised her adorable little boy!

***To clarify, neither mom nor baby was handled and baby is now a happy and healthy (kinda chunky) 300+ grams.***

With cold temperatures setting in, please keep alternate heat sources in mind for your quill babies. Should you lose power, hand warmers (covered) work in a pinch. We recommend Hot Snapz with a cover if you can get them.
