Giving Tuesday starts at midnight, who knew that this day would impact us so much! I understand that our SRER Family has families and responsibilities but if you can help us raise funds to get us through the winter, we would be so grateful.
Thank you for always being there for us.

Twister Update-
I have been dreading this! We and our vet thought that we were on a good, solid, healing path with Twister, but everything shifted so quickly. There is nothing more unknown than the anatomy of a horse.

This was a very bad injury to her front left leg. She had managed to shave off the front of her leg down to the bone. Now keep in mind that healing tissue like this is not unheard of and can be done rather successfully. In this scenario, Twister's wound was already infected when she arrived to the vet, so this was an added challenge. The wound had to be cleaned and trimmed multiple times in order to get to healthy flesh. We felt like we had made it to a milestone that got us away from fear of infection complications.

After x-rays late last week, it was discovered that Twister had become foundered. Best guess is a combination of the weight shift onto her good leg due the injury and endotoxins in her blood from infection, which in turn effects the oxygen that is delivered to the laminae in the hoof, causing founder. We tried so hard to help this family and their horse, but we failed. Our vet is amazing and worked so many hours to get her on the right path but it simply didn't work.

On Monday, we made a decision that was in Twister's best interest and helped her pass over the rainbow bridge. Please say a prayer for her owners and us.

Twister update
She is healing quickly but the granulation process is causing her to scratch her wound with her teeth. We don’t want her to tear it open so it must remain wrapped. She may be able to leave the vet early next week.
