2 days before 14 weeks old. Lisa Fetzner and I took her to the dog show at Tristate and she passed her CGC evaluation!! Thank you Lisa for the time you have been spending with her!!

It has been one week.

Her name was Diamond. She was my one true soulmate, my protector, my best friend and constant companion. And she is gone.

She wasn't like most other German Shepherds that I have known or owned. She was calm, thoughtful and completely in tune with me. I could call her with a soft whisper or seemingly with just a thought and she would appear. She was larger then many females but certainly no giant. Not terribly soft on her feet, I could hear her coming and know it was her. She walked with authority, knowing she was the queen, the chosen one, the one I loved the most..

Her fur was long, soft and shining. The black was black as night with deep mahogany points. Her tail was so long it would drag the floor. She was stunning! Watching her move with such grace never failed to take my breath away. But that wasn't the best part of her.

In all my years with so many dogs I had never had one that was so in tune with my thoughts, moods and needs. I swear she could read my mind. Oh I know most people especially those that have never had a true bond with an animal will be rolling their eyes.. I feel sorry for those folks. I was blessed with the truest most selfless kind of love and devotion that I believe can only come from a dog.

In my mind I can see her leaning against the door waiting quietly as I scurry around the house getting ready to go out. She just watching as I put up the other dogs, changed my clothes, brushed my hair and teeth and turned to go. Just sitting there. Knowing I seldom left her behind. Because she knew. She knew she was special. She knew..

So now it has been a week with out her gentle nudge in the morning. without her laying her head in my lap, without her beautiful brown eyes staring up at me..

Now I just cry. I am devastated, I am paralyzed and I am angry!
Now I just cry....
