It's only been the last 5 years or so that I've owned light colored horses. Nothing really prepares you for how hard they are to keep clean. I've been trying for a while to get some better pictures and videos of Oro, so what does he do? This rascal waits until I uncovered the most rank part of the corral while cleaning and the first thing he does is grease both sides. He's still available, in all his filthy glory, by the way.

Normally we wouldn't be able to get horses this high on the mountain in February, but this year there's not much snow.

Sigh...Morgans. So I thought I'd make a little video about what it takes to water the horses during the winter. What I ended up making was a video about how certain horses won't leave the camera alone. A video that's probably far more entertaining than my original. So here's to the curiosity, the observant nature, and the sense of humor of the Morgan horse.

When I say Morgans are "in your pocket", this is what that means. This c**t was literally right there on my hip pocket the whole time I was checking horses and fence. I know sometimes it can be annoying, but it's fun having horses that enjoy your company.

It's always a bittersweet day when horses leave for a new home, especially the babies. As a breeder lots of blood, sweat, and time goes into getting a foal through to weaning, so it's not always easy watching them head down the road in somebody else's trailer. At this point that horse's destiny is out of your hands and you hope they will be well cared for and given a chance to reach full potential. That being said, Maximus and Cisco have found a great home and I'm beyond thrilled for their new owners.

Look who's going to spend the winter with daddy! Ukelele Charlie NV will be spending quality father son time this winter with West Desert Spanish Gold. Spanish is a long yearling kept intact as a possible breeding stallion. He's put on plenty of height and we're excited to see how he looks next spring as a two year old. Hopefully time spent with daddy will refine his manners a little.
