Kristin Lake, CVT is an Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician with experience since 2003, transitioning from General Practice to specialties like Medical Oncology and Emergency Medicine for domestic and exotic animals. We are excited to have her as one of the speakers for the MVMA Winter Conference!

In 2023, Kristin published The Veterinary Technician's Guide to Emergency and Critical Care and founded VetMedMath.com, offering tutoring and 24/7 medical math consultations. Additionally, she created VetMedRounds for designing inpatient rounding books for veterinary professionals. Kristin was accepted to Harvard Medical School in April 2024 for postgraduate coursework in Effective Writing for Health Care, aiming to publish her research in veterinary journals.

Dr. Jesse Leith will be speaking during the upcoming Winter Conference. Dr. Leith earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University before pursuing his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Following graduation, he dedicated 11 years to small animal general practice and emergency medicine, gaining extensive hands-on experience in diverse veterinary settings.

In March 2022, he embraced a unique opportunity to join Zoetis Animal Health, where he could focus on educating clients about the topics he is most passionate about, such as animal health and well-being. Since joining Zoetis, Dr. Leith has been traveling extensively, sharing his knowledge and insights through engaging presentations and discussions with veterinary professionals and clients alike.

The MVMA is pleased to announce that David Dycus, DVM, will be speaking at the upcoming Winter Conference.

Dr. Dycus earned his veterinary degree from Mississippi State University, where he also completed a surgical residency and Master’s, along with a rotating internship at Auburn University. He has delivered over 250 presentations and taught more than 150 labs globally. He has published numerous research articles, co-authored several book chapters, and co-edited Complications in Canine Cranial Cruciate Ligament Surgery. In 2023, he received the Veterinary Hero’s Award and was named one of DVM360’s 10 veterinarians to watch in 2018. Dr. Dycus founded Fusion Veterinary Orthopedics, specializing in total joint replacement and minimally invasive surgery. He also established Ortho Vet Consulting to provide orthopedic coaching and educational services.

It was an honor to witness Governor Tate Reeves sign HB1210 into law today, alongside Dr. Mac Huddleston's family, Rep. Vince Mangold, the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation, Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and 2024 scholarship recipients Natalie Garcia and Gabbi Walters. This marks a significant step forward for rural veterinary medicine in Mississippi!
