We are volunteers at the Granville County Animal Control and Shelter in Oxford, NC. We share our love and concern for those animals in Granville County that are lost, strays or owner surrendered. We would like to reunite owners with their lost pet, find rescues for animals that need to find a forever home, and see pets at the county animal shelter be adopted to loving homes.

* If you are a pet o

wner who has lost your animal, please make sure to visit the Granville County Animal Control in Oxford, as often as possible. Names, pictures and descriptions may not be correct, so coming in and checking who is at the shelter is very important. It is best that these family members are reunited with their owners quickly. All strays are put on a 72 hour hold prior to being available for
adoption or rescue.

* While adopting a pet is a wonderful thing, we also seek to educate pet owners on the need to spay/neuter your animals, flea/tick control, general understanding of pet care costs, and pet safety during hot/cold weather, storms or holiday festivities. We can also give you information for the pet food pantry and other local resources, such as low cost spay/neuter programs. If you would like to adopt a pet from the county shelter, that can be done at the facility on Cornwall Rd.

* Since the county can release animals to an approved 501c3 rescue, we would like to open lines of communication for such rescues to browse available dogs and cats at the facility and provide updates, as well as pictures and descriptions.

* All requests for fosters are for individual rescues as Granville County has no foster program. Granville County Animal Control and Shelter is located at 515 New Commerce Dr. Oxford, NC #919-693-6749.

Adoptable dogs!!

Snoopy and Batman are both incredible dogs that are available for adoption. Both a year old, heartworm negative. They have been in the shelter for 131 days. Snoopy is very outgoing and loves everyone and has done so well on all of his meetings and greets. Batman has really come out of his shell, he is a slight bit on the shy side but he sure warms up! He has also done very well on his meet and greets. Both of these boys have been to several adoption events and have been a huge hit with all who came. We truly don’t under why they haven’t been adopted. They have never been apart from each other. They are both just cool laid back dudes!! Come out to the shelter and meet these boys! Here is the information you need to know in order to adopt. Adoption process And of course free adoptions. - All your dogs need to be spayed and or neutered - Land lord agreement needs to be completed and signed if applicable - The puppies are too young to be spayed or neutered. This service is covered in the adoption and will be scheduled based on the age of the puppies. - All puppies adopted must be examined by veterinarian within 10 days of adoption at adopters expense. - No convictions for animal cruelty or animal related crimes and no complaints or active animal services investigations for 1 year. - We reserve the right to deny adoption.

A huge thank you to Blue Corn Café in Durham for having us. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there today, the food was amazing. The company was fantastic. Your establishment was extremely dog friendly and we truly appreciate that. We can’t wait to come back with the next dog! Thankfully, Miss Susie has secured Rescue , she will leave the shelter tomorrow!

Thanks to a couple of our Shelter volunteers, Sweet Susie was able to go out to lunch today. She rode in the car, amazingly well. She was such a good girl. She was friendly with everyone.

A few of our Senior dogs.

All of these dogs are available for adoption. They came into the shelter, either running loose, being a stray, being surrendered by their owner. They all have a story. They have a personality all their own. Some have not had the best life. In fact, for some of them, their life was horrific. And yet, they still have such capacity for . Some had people that loved them at one time. They all deserve a home. They all deserve someone to love them, someone to care for them. And they all deserve someone they can love. The shelter is open from 12 to 430 today, please stop by and meet these dogs. They are all loving, Sweet. Please make sure not to overlook the scared ones, the noisy ones. For a dog, the shelter is a very scary place. It’s loud it constantly changes. These dogs are asked to adjust to so much. Staff and volunteers love these babies and we need them out. Thank you to Mobile Welding Tech Company for adopting Beast as a shop cat! We appreciate the donation as well♥️ This is fantastic news! Meet Beast! He has been at our Shelter since July 13. This fella needs a special home. He seems to be ok with other cats except when food is present. He is a macho man who loves his food and doesn’t like to share. He can be impatient at feeding time and swat food out of your hand. We believe he has always been an outdoor cat and will be happiest living in a safe outdoor environment. He also has a unique personality. He seems to think he is a dog! He wags his tail from side to side when he struts in the cat room at cleaning time. This boy is beyond ready to leave the cage life behind. He is neutered and vaccinated. There is no fee to adopt this friendly barn boy! We LOVE this dude!
