"Kitten season" refers to the time of year when the majority of underage kittens arrive at shelters. The shelter environment is not the best place for these tiny friends, but YOU can help them survive and thrive.

It's officially 🌼 SPRING 🌼 and that means... KITTENS! 🐱🐱🐱 Do you know what to do if you find kittens? Our updated chart is just the guide you need.
Remember: If you find a litter of kittens, you may not need to RUSH to the rescue! Always:
🛑 Watch and wait. Mom is likely nearby. She is their BEST chance to survive.
➡️ You can use this chart to estimate the age of the kittens and go from there.
⚠️ Please remember that shelters take in thousands of neonatal kittens every year - including 5,000 last year alone in Jacksonville - so resources are limited.

Kitten Season is right around the corner and soon I'll have babies needing homes. 😻😻 You might hear us recommending adopting two kittens at the same time, which is not NEARLY as intimidating as it sounds, and can even be easier! Solo kitties can become lonely without a well-suited playmate (dogs and older cats might not be interested in kitten antics), and it can be tough for a non-cat to provide enough enrichment for a young kitten. Here are just a few reasons that two kittens are better than one! 💗

Chowder (aka mr Grumpy pants) has turned a corner. She now sleeps with me a night and is very affectionate 🤗 She’s going to be a great pet to someone. She’ll be ready for her forever home Oct 3rd.
