I hate puppies.

More specifically, female puppies. So, I was thrilled when CACC’s Sia offered us 3 female puppies.

We pulled them.

Jesus, f**k. Total god damn chaos.

And then we pulled a few more non puppies. Because you can never have enough dogs.

Shout out to our f**king partners!

Today started with another urgent URI, and then CACC’s Sia, leveled up with a Parvo dog. The timing of the Parvo dog was the most f**ked. Especially on a Sunday.

It was a long shot but Naperville Animal Hospital made it f**king happen. If I were them, I would ignore me. Maybe one day they’ll learn but today, they made the impossible happen.

Rescue can’t do s**t without all the pieces that need to fit together. It’s a really f**ked up puzzle, and I’m so grateful when we aren’t missing a piece at the end.

A few days ago I was shocked to hear that CACC had a little space, and we didn’t need to scramble to pull dogs immediately. That was short lived. They’re out of space again.

So, we managed to pull 5 CACC dogs today. F**k my life.

And yesterday we were asked to help a young Parvo positive boy at Kendall County Animal Control so he’s hospitalized at Naperville right now. But he will be in need of a foster!

A dog gets adopted from CACC and a year later she’s back as a cruelty confiscation.

This is just f**king stupid.

P.S. This isn’t a bash on CACC’s adoption process. There are s**tty f**king people everywhere, and truth be told, I’ve adopted to some doozies. Not on purpose. I don’t think.

Unless this is self sabotage. It’s probably that.

Yesterday’s pull: Flapjack.

Today’s pulls: Parvo puppies. I hoped Sia was offering us 2 adorable males but that’s too easy. They’re both females but they’re cute as s**t. Naperville Animal Hospital has been given naming rights.

Also, we are looking for vacation fosters for some of ‘The Pit’ dogs!

For the first time in many years, we are taking a few days to go out of town. With that, our goal is actually to leave zero dogs at ‘The Pit’ and spread them out between vacation fosters, and boarding facilities we utilize on occasion.

So, when I saw that we received an adoption application for one of the dogs at ‘The Pit’ I got giddy. Maybe this dog would be adopted and wouldn’t need a vacation foster.

My excitement was quickly dashed when I started reading the app. First off, the app was submitted by a 16 year old. Second, the 16 year old is interested in adopting this particular dog because of his “clam behavior.” An added bonus was that this person likes dogs that are “lager sized.”

As I read this out loud to Andy, he’s pi***ng himself laughing. While also telling me that someone is clearly f**king with me.

The worst part is…I feel very f**king certain it’s not a joke at all. If anyone is interested in helping vacation foster for our ‘Pit’ dogs, let us know. The one with “clam behavior” will definitely not be adopted by then.

We will be looking for vacation fosters starting on 9/29 until 10/6.

I think I accidentally pulled a hydrocephalus dog.

I’ve never wanted one before, and I don’t want one now.

But we just had a train wreck of epic proportions delivered to us (this is 100% all my fault - I didn’t even get coerced or tricked).

His back legs appear fused, and if he was a hideous woman, we would say he has a “five head.”

I don’t know much but I’m pretty sure dogs aren’t supposed to look like this.

One of our fosters was kind enough to transport him to us, and she texted about how tiny and cute he was. She said he looks like a, Chester.

To which I responded, Chester, the molester. I like it.

Chester is a s**t show. Me too.

This is DHD, we don’t quit. And I’m sure as s**t not trying to be sober. Who would I even be then?

While we’re busy not hitting up AA or NA meetings, we pulled CACC’s, Gyllenhaal.

I took some time off to reflect, and think about how I can be a better rescuer.

Obviously what I was doing wasn’t working so, I got sober, did some soul searching, and I’m back, and more refreshed than ever.

That’s a f**king joke. If I ever wrote that, and meant it, it would mean I’m the least sober version of me there ever was. I’m drunk right now. High too.

We did slow down on pulls but that’s just because there’s only so many nightmares people can deal with at once.

We’ve had a s**t ton of adoptions, also, more returns than should be possible. We’re rolling with the punches though, and I’ve wanted to throw a lot of punches. But that’s why we have Tito’s. And drugs.

Yep, you saw that right. I got myself a Great Pyrenees because they’re so much easier than pit bulls. And then he was that much easier, and more. And so slow that he became an inconvenience. We got places to be, and this mother f**ker isn’t trying to do anything fast. Look alive, Marshmallow Man.

I’d also like to add that my children have had pit bulls their entire lives. From the day they were born until now. And their favorite dog ever is the current Great Pyrenees. They’re mother f**kers, I tell you.
