Our Story
We’ve enjoyed the companionship of our chins for nearly 25 years. We have 12 - 15 litters per year at an average of 2 per litter. Our litters consist of these colors: sapphire, violet, black velvet, mosaic, beige and ebony and blue diamond. We will hold babies with a non-refundable deposit. And if you're looking for something specific, I do have wait lists so you receive first notifications. Just let me know what you're looking for if you're OK with waiting.
As most chin owners discover you can rarely stop at one.
This happens for many reasons including:
1. Chins have unique personalities and it is fun to see the differences between each chin
2. Chins are very social and enjoy not only human companionship but also that of other chins
They make wonderful pets for older children and adults. They’re very bright – mine all know the sound of the raisin container opening – and definitely have the capacity to learn when you spend time with them. Embarking on chinchilla ownership is definitely a worthwhile experience and we’re sure, one you’ll totally enjoy.
• Chinchillas have no dander, which is the leading cause to pet related allergies.
• Chinchilla fur is considered the softest in the world and is thirty times softer than human hair.
• Chinchillas must regularly bathe in dust or volcanic ash to remove oil and moisture that gathers in their thick fur.
• Chinchillas have the highest fur density of any land animal with more than 20,000 hairs per square cm. Their fur is so dense that skin parasites (such as fleas) cannot live on one lest they suffocate. Whereas humans grow one hair from each follicle, a chinchilla has more than fifty hairs from a single follicle.
• They are agile jumpers and can jump up to five feet above their head.
Chinchillas in the wild are prey for many predators and are conditioned to be cautious so take some time to be comfortable around strangers. Over time your chinchillas will become comfortable with your presence.
Since the mid-1960s, chinchillas have become increasingly popular as pets.
