Remember Hope from last year? Look at her now. Hope is one of hundreds of cases that your contributions allowed us to treat. Hope was found along the road as a stray by a community member. She had severe skin issues and was underweight. Her rescuer had the ability to provide a home and love, but needed help to be able to afford Hope's medical care. Using funds raised via the Carver Vet Fund, we were able to provide Hope with the care she needed. She went through a big transformation and is living the good life.

Donations are tax-deductible when you donate via this link - https://veterinarycarefoundation.org/veterinary-practice-donation/?state=VA&member=VA101210.

The vaccine clinic was a huge success! We saw a TON of patients. The pile of syringes at the end of the day was impressive. Thank you to the Richmond community for spreading the word and huge thank you to Beau's Bridge Club for sponsoring the event.

Thank you to everyone for being so patient. We had a line before 8AM and we had to stop adding new patients to the queue at 11:15 because the line was so long.

01/07/2024

We have such a long line that we are no longer accepting additional patients for the day. What a turnout!

Happy Wednesday! Ray came to us through one of our shelter partners. He had severe entropion going on with both eyes. Entropion is a condition where the eyelid turns inwards and results in hair rubbing on the surface of the eye, which is very irritating. We were able to surgically correct the condition at a price they could afford. He's currently getting all the love he needs in a foster home.

First two pictures are prior to surgery and the third picture is him fully healed after surgery.

Arthur has something to say. We are excited to announce a new partnership. We are teaming up with Moments of Hope Outreach later this month. A little about them - "Moments of Hope Outreach operates a homeless outreach, provides emergency shelter to our unsheltered neighbors, operates a food pantry, and hosts a weekly community outreach luncheon rain or shine with a mobile pantry, health screenings, bike shop, clothing ministry, homeless services and fellowship".

They serve a large number of people in need and many have their own beloved pets. We will be setting up with them one day this month to offer free exams and vaccines to the pets of the people they serve.

Want to help keep pets with their people? Please consider contributing to the Carver Vet Fund in person, over the phone, or via Venmo ().

Thank you for your continued support. We hope to make this a regular event!

We have an amazing story to share with everyone. One of our clients came in the other day and made a contribution to the Carver Vet Fund.

The extra special part of this story is that the funds were raised by this young entrepreneur pictured below, Cora with her pup, Stella. She has started a business called Barky Bites (Barky Bites by Cora) where she makes collar bandanas, mud mitts, and dog treats and sells them at local events. She has decided she wants to donate a portion of her sales each time to the Carver Vet Fund.

We just wanted to give a shout out to Cora and let her know her generosity lifted all of our hearts. Her next event is the Spring Festival at The Art Factory in Midlothian on May 11th.

Lastly, for anyone wanting to help keep pets with their people, consider contributing to the Carver Vet Fund the next time you're in the clinic or via Venmo at .

We have some exciting news to share! You may have noticed this sign in front of the clinic over the last few weeks. We had submitted paperwork to be able to expand the clinic to the second floor of our building. As of this week, City Council approved our Special Use Permit! There are still some things we have to do before it's truly ready to go, but soon we'll be doubling our square footage. Stay tuned!

We decided to spend our day off celebrating World Spay Day a day early. Today we spayed and neutered a ton of cats at no cost to their owners! Thank you to Richmond Animal Care and Control and the Kara and Eden Project for sponsoring 50 surgeries for Richmond residents. Also, City Kitty Project RVA - Lost Dog Foundation sponsored a handful of additional surgeries.

We managed to get through it all with smiles on our faces (Jade had to leave a little early so we went ahead and photoshopped her in). Special thanks to two different supporters for getting us coffee and lunch.

Today is Rach's four year work anniversary! She was hired on as a veterinary assistant when the clinic had only been open for three months. Her animal handling and clinical skills are fantastic and she's helped the clinic grow by taking on practice management responsibilities. Thank you, Rach, for all your hard work and commitment to our mission!

Pic below - Rach had a ton of fun hanging out with pig friends at Loving Acres during one of our team building days.

Say hello to Blue! She was able to get updated on vaccines and have a skin condition treated thanks to your contributions to the Carver Vet Fund. We've been able to network more and more with human services organizations to get care to those most in need to help keep pets with their people.

Want to help? Please consider contributing to the Carver Vet Fund. It's not tax deductible, but every dollar will be put to good use. You can contribute in person, over the phone, or via venmo (). Thank you so much!

I can't believe that today marks four years since we opened our doors! Over these four years we have seen over 11,000 patients, had free vaccine clinics, partnered with numerous organizations to provide free care to those in need, and have continued to accomplish our mission of increasing access to care.

Thank you SO much to all of our clients, patients, and our community partners.

I also wanted to give a special thank you to our incredible team. Without them, we wouldn't be able to accomplish anything at all. I wanted to highlight them by having them share a bit about themselves. Take a look below!

Who are we?

We are located in the Carver Community in Richmond, VA at 1217 W Leigh Street. Our mission is to increase access to veterinary care by providing high-quality, affordable veterinary medicine to the dogs and cats in our region. Our clinic is open Tuesday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM. We also offer house calls on Mondays.

We are a full-service clinic and offer wellness and sick pet exams, surgery, dental cleanings and extractions, diagnostics including in-house bloodwork, and more.

We continue to offer in-home care because it is less stressful for some pets and some owners have transport limitations. We are able to offer everything from routine care, sick appointments, and many different diagnostic test on a house call basis.

In addition to our services offered to the general public, we work with animal shelters and rescue groups and are always looking to form new partnerships.
