Poppy, WASA’s 5 1/2 month old cocker spaniel-Keeshond mix, does a pretty pose to let you know she is still looking for her forever home. She is such a sweet dog but ideally there should be a playful dog or dogs in residence to help her feel welcome and help her adjust. We are looking for an individual or family with the time and love to continue her puppy training. For additional info about Poppy, please visit: http://www.westportwasa.org/adopt/available-dogs/. Poppy is up to date on all of her vet care.

UPDATE. OWNER FOUND AND HAS CLAIMED THIS CAT.

**CAT WAS REUINITED WITH OWNERS, THANK YOU!**

This cat was found last week on Ferris Avenue. The person who found her has a dog and the cat does not appear to like dogs. This person was hoping the owner would come forward after posting on numerous social media apps. However, no one has. If you believe you know this cats owner, please leave us a message.

If anyone is interested in adopting this cat, let us know. She is litter trained and very friendly. Thank you.

Our friend Goose had a soothing bath yesterday in regard to addressing his skin issues. Good food, a clean environment, medications and medicated baths are making a difference. Next up is surgery to address those physical impediments that make breathing difficult for him. To assist WASA in making his life more healthy and much happier, please make a donation at: http://www.westportwasa.org/donate/

For more of Goose’s story, please visit the comments.

Parker aka Sergeant Parker aka the King is a longtime guest of Westport Animal Control since being abandoned in Winslow Park in Westport. We have not given up on finding our 10 year old friend a forever home but until then we keep this handsome boy happy with field trips, multiple daily walks, socialization time and, oh yes, office time to hang out and enjoy Earth Animal No Hides. For additional info on our favorite friend, please visit: http://www.westportwasa.org/adopt/available-dogs/

WASA responded to an urgent plea from Naugatuck Animal Control to rescue this friend (and feel free to suggest a name) as his life was quite in peril due to the heat in the kennel coupled with his respiratory issues. In the days and weeks to come this friendly fellow will receive much needed vet care to address breathing, digestive and skin issues in addition to neutering surgery. His WASA foster mom states he is a bit of a wrecking ball when he wants attention and love.

If you would like to assist WASA by funding care for our new friend, please visit:
http://www.westportwasa.org/donate/

And for the record Mayor Hess (Naugatuck), be expecting to hear from WASA because we are so eager to speak with you.
Per our WASA volunteers the conditions of your municipal shelter is deplorable. Kennels are not secure and dogs can break out with resulting injuries. WASA volunteers were also informed upon adopting our new friend to be sure and have a f***l test done (which is standard for us) as giardia runs rampant because the concrete floors are shot and porous and cannot be adequately cleaned and sanitized. We would like to commend the ACO that was at the facility today, her passion for helping animals entrusted to her care and trying to make the best of a horrible situation.

UPDATE. ADOPTED!

Our friend Forrest has completed his heart worm treatment (those patches are his injection sites). He did so well, and we thank his WASA foster Jaime and the staff of Schulhof Animal Hospital for taking such grand care of him. In typical Forrest fashion, he made friends with the resident cat Jinx (look at that gentle kiss). She can be a “feisty” girl but is very tolerant and accepting of Forrest’s attention. Forrest is still in need of his forever home. Please visit the following site for additional info: http://www.westportwasa.org/adopt/available-dogs/. HOPE UPDATE! Adoption pending. If you’ve seen previous posts, you will know that Hope, abandoned in Westport, presented to Westport Animal Control being fearful of a leash, fearful of leaving her kennel, fearful of the world outside. With kindness and patience from WASA volunteers and the animal control officers, this sweet girl’s world opened up. WASA-funded vetting, good food and a clean environment resolved her skin issue. She was found to have a Grade 3 heart murmur and a cardiology consultation revealed no heart disease or enlargement. A small hole was found between her heart chambers. She is not currently in need of medication but will require a check up every two years. She is scheduled to be spayed by Dr. Palmisano at the VCA Norwalk. Her future is bright indeed.

Just so you know, that puppy you are “adopting” for a fee of $800 to $1000 may not have been “found on the side of a road” but was bred to ship up north in this kind of a transport. You should also know that your adoption fee does not include spay/neuter surgery when your pup is at a safe age for this surgery. Ask questions. There is money to be made from transported puppies and faux “rescue” groups are cashing in and in the process supporting animal cruelty.

📍Greenwich, CT 🤯 WHAT?!?!?

Let us know in the comments, what’s your thoughts:
What’s more outrageous?

1) the guy was released on $70 (seventy dollars) after unaliving 7 puppies in slow painful death in a transport truck

2) that the story seems to have avoided real coverage

3) that the puppies were on that truck 🛻 allegedly for an import (ship up) rescue from or by way of PA to CT and NY

🤔

Truckloads just like this enter CT every weekend to be sold aka adopted out. Is import rescue the modern day pet store since pet stores became unpopular? Something to consider. . .

📍STAMFORD COURTHOUSE - 10AM 🕙 7/1 this Monday.
COURT DATE JULY 1ST AT STAMFORD CT COURTHOUSE - Was anyone aware of this incident? We were informed privately by a LEO otherwise we would not have known. Let us know in the comments if you were aware of this, please. Share your thoughts. 💭 LET US KNOW IF YOU WILL BE AT THE COURTHOUSE!!

“Justice Sherman Jackson, 25, of Laurel, Maryland was charged with 7 counts of Animal Cruelty.

According to Lt Patrick Smyth, the Greenwich Police Public Information Officer, multiple dogs had been left improperly attended to in kennels/cages the rear of a U-Haul van.

Saturday was very hot in Greenwich, with temps in the high 80°s. After just 20 minutes on an 80° degree day, the CDC says the inside of a car can hit 109°.

Lt Smyth said that the incident occurred at a park in Stamford but due to a medical emergency, in which some of the dogs died, they were brought to an animal hospital in Greenwich, which is how Greenwich Police became involved.

Mr. Jackson was able to post the required 7% of his $1,000 bond ($70) and was released. He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on July 1, 2024.”
