Say hello to Regis! Regis hails from Norwalk Animal Control after his abandonment. He had his initial vetting for exam (now being treated for double ear infections) and vaccines. Neutering surgery is on his agenda in the days to come. He’s a small but spirited little guy that is jujudged to be about two years old. He has made friends with Gracie Lou (enjoy going on walks together) but he does not seem to be a fan of larger dogs. For additional info about Regis, please contact WASA by calling 203 557 0361 or by sending an email to [email protected]. To complete an application, necessary prior to meet and greet, please visit: https://www.westportwasa.org/adopt/wasa-adoption-application/. Please note WASA has a limited adoption area in regard to home visits we do for every adoption.

NALA UPDATE! Nala was in good hands this past week with Dr. Charles Duffy and the skilled staff of Norwalk Veterinary Hospital. Nala had surgery to remove a massive hernia, mammary tumor and droopy skin tag in addition to being spayed. Flea and tick preventatives were provided as well due to past flea infestation leading to skin issues. We thank those that contributed to WASA’s Nala fund.

WASA would like to thank the kind folks at Gilbertie’s (https://www.gilbertiesorganics.com/) for their generous donation to the “Nala Fund” (previous post), our friend in need of extensive surgery. We stopped by yesterday to pick up the donation - and to take in the beauty of their holiday displays and merchandise. We thank them for their continued support of WASA. Such a gem to have in the Town of Westport. And, as a reminder, the Westport store is also the site for the winter season of the Westport Farmers’ Market (https://www.westportfarmersmarket.com/). We can’t wait. If you would like to support WASA in regard to the dogs we assist in CT, like Nala, please visit: https://www.westportwasa.org/donate/

COMMUNITY OUTREACH: Help us give Nala a second chance.
Nala’s new owner inherited her from a friend. All was well until she developed medical issues due to not being spayed.
Instead of leading with judgment, we chose to lead with compassion and consideration. Given the circumstances that Nala is not dog friendly and a bully breed she could have ended up in terrible situations.
With the support of Dr. Duffy and the team at Norwalk Veterinary Hospital, Nala will need to undergo complex surgery to address her condition and be spayed. This procedure is her only hope for a pain-free life. Please open your heart and help us cover Nala’s vital surgical costs. Every dollar is a direct investment in her future.
Help us fund Nala's life-saving surgery by donating: https://www.westportwasa.org/donate/

UPDATE. After living outdoors in a pen and shed, Rory, not yet a year, was surrendered to WASA, thank goodness. We brought him up to date on his vet care including neuter surgery and microchip. He also tested as a high positive for Lyme disease, and he was prescribed a course of antibiotics. Rory, now Roscoe, was adopted by pet parents that are very familiar with the breed - which is a very good thing. They weren’t surprised by his Shiba quirks - both nice and naughty - that make having a Shiba as a family member both rewarding - and challenging. We thank them for opening their hearts and home to our friend, a friend who now knows what it means to be a beloved INDOOR pet.

Good news for Gracie Lou (https:// www.westportwasa.org/adopt/available-
dogs/)! WASA transported and funded her cardiology consult (assessment, electrocardiogram, echocardiogram) with Dr.
Goodwin at the VCA in Norwalk. She has been cleared for anesthesia in regard to an upcoming WASA-funded dental. She also was presented with a few new sweaters.
Look for her soon-to-be posted glamour shots. To support WASA in its mission to come to the rescue of abandoned pets in CT, please visit: https://www.westportwasa.org/donate/
