If you were driving to work this morning, 11/3, via the Merritt you may have seen or passed by an injured barred owl in Westport. One cape-less commuter and brave wildlife hero picked him up and transported him to the kind and knowledgeable staff of Wildlife in Crisis (https://wildlifeincrisis.org/). Peter Reid, intake director (and Westport Animal Control Officer) reports he appears concussed but presents with no apparent bodily injuries. Thank you to the rescuer and Wildlife in Crisis.

Stunning, right? Our beautiful Ginger continues to await her forever home. She is beautifully trained and enjoys car trips. She enjoys the company of other dogs. Ideally her new home environment should include a fenced-in yard where she can play fetch with her people. For additional info about Ginger, please visit: https://www.westportwasa.org/adopt/available-dogs/.

WASA is assisting a local family in regard to their need to rehome their family pet, Benni, due to changes in family dynamic and housing. Benni is a 6/7 year old French bulldog-Beagle mix. She is a real sweet girl that needs to find a family that will give her lots of love and attention. Benni is lovely with people of all ages and reportedly is pretty great with other dogs. She is spayed and up to date on vet care. She’s a darling pup. For additional info, please contact WASA at 203 557 0361 or send an email to [email protected]. Easton’s version of giving paw. Our 5 year old Swiss Shepherd fellow is a sweet boy. He also likes a good towel dry which was a good thing on this rain-soaked day. For additional info about Easton, please contact WASA by calling 203 557 0361 or by sending an email to [email protected]. UPDATE! ADOPTED! Abandoned in Westport, GG - now GiGi - was a bit curmudgeonly when she arrived. We gave her the space and time she needed to realize she was safe. In the days and weeks while with us at Westport Animal Control, she became quite beloved by the WASA volunteers and our animal control officers. Our other guests were fans of hers as well. We learned she loved car rides and, even as a senior, enjoyed long walks. We also learned she was not too happy about having her bottom wiped and was quite unhappy about receiving vet care (and thank you Norwalk Veterinary Hospital for your patience with her). We will never know what trauma or unkind treatment created this mistrust of people. Our hope was to find her a home where she could settle in, be loved and hopefully forget past abuse. We are so happy that she has found just such a home and a couple that love her. Her pet mom Cynthia calls her “my love” and reports progress has been made with the bottom wiping issue. She is now - in her senior years - finally realizing what it is like to be a beloved pet and family member. Thank you John and Cynthia for opening your hearts and home to our GiGi.

UPDATE. ADOPTED. Keeva - now Chloe - came to us as an owner surrender due to her needing to be in a home without other dogs. We enjoyed our time with our sweet Princess girl and, after meet and greets and home visit, we are so happy that she has found a lovely new home and family. She is the only dog in the home and is truly enjoying 24/7 love and attention. We thank her adopters for opening their hearts and home to Chloe.

He is 5 years of age and comes to us upon the passing of his pet parent. More to come but for additional info on Easton, please contact WASA by calling 203 557 0361. He is very friendly and enjoys the company of other dogs.
