Dogs & Running have always been my thing...
Recently, I completed my first 50K race (a trail run called The Rattler 50k in here in Colorado Springs in Palmer Park). It was a goal I had long held and been too afraid to tackle for many years and for many reasons. As the big race day got closer, my wife & I had the discussion we have had often about “what’s next after this”? Because us runners finish a big race, swear off running for a bit, and then jones for a new one. Going longer than 50K seemed crazy, so we joked that “I’d just run the dog”...and then it hit us that maybe I would run EVERYONE ELSE’S DOGS.
Because the truth is, when I get grumpy or the dog gets “restless”, my wife sends us out on a run together, because it “keeps us all sane”. I have always had running and dogs as a part of my life, and am at my best and happiest when I’m out on the trails or at the park with my dog. And I know first hand that there are so many dogs out there that NEED to run in order to be their best “doggie-selves”. Those dogs, if they aren’t run, if they don’t get that kind of deep exercise, they can’t be the happy, good family pets they are meant to be, that we all want and need them to be. And those dogs (and their families) are too often unhappy and unsuccessful. So here is my chance to take my big heart for those high-energy dogs, my desire to help others, and my well-trained running self and make a difference for your dog and your family.
I’m excited and ready for this next adventure of life. I have also finished several marathons and triathlons, summited numerous Colorado 14ers (most with dogs!), and have a lot of experience around many different sizes, breeds, and temperaments of dogs. Running multiple dogs at a time is no problem for me!
