Gentle Journey Mobile In-Home Veterinary Hospice & Euthanasia Care Gentle Journey wants to honor the bond you have with your pet with compassion, grace, and dignity. Euthanasia should be and can be peaceful and compassionate.

Introduction to Lap of Love of the Triangle (est. 2011): Our animal companions add so much joy and warmth to our lives. Dealing with end-of-life decisions can be exceedingly difficult. Positively impacting the lives of families and their pets gives us a great feeling of satisfaction. We feel blessed to be in a position to help families be as comfortable as possible with their choices. Saying good

bye at home is the ultimate gift of love. We have always found senior and hospice care to be extremely rewarding and an important part of veterinary medicine. Being able to help pets cross the Rainbow Bridge and ease their suffering is such a privilege. It is our calling to be there for families and help them say goodbye to their beloved pets at home with love and dignity. We are honored to serve families in a way that eases their grief and their pet’s life as peacefully as possible. Lap of Love allows us to help pets move on to a place with no tears. Neither the family nor the pet should be in an anxious position at that very last moment. We try to create an experience so that it is the very best that a bad moment can be. If the pet can be kept comfortable and his or her quality of life maintained through nursing care and pain management, then the family may be able to extend the quality time they have with their cherished companions. Every being deserves a comfortable end. Having the pet at home enables the animal maximum comfort, hospice care allows the pet to enjoy the last days of life in familiar surroundings in the company of loved ones, and it allows the family to have more time with their pet and prepare for the loss of this beloved family member. Dr. Dana Lewis has been a veterinarian since 1997 and was in private practice until she founded Lap of Love of the Triangle. Dr. Dana is a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian. Dr. Betsy King became a veterinarian in1987 and was in private practice then shelter medicine until she joined Lap of Love in in 2015. Dr. Betsy retired at the end of 2021. Dr. Christina Hampton became a veterinarian in 2009 and practiced small animal medicine until she joined us in 2018. Dr. Barbara Kirch has been a veterinarian since 2002. She was in private practice, then mobile feline medicine until she joined us in 2021. Dr. Katie Cassady also joined our team in 2021. She has been a veterinarian since 2018 and completed two internships after graduation: a Small Animal rotating internship in Illinois(2018-2019), and Anesthesia & Research at NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine(2019-2021).

Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is never easy, but there are ways to make their final days as comfortable and peaceful as possible. 🐾💜 Here’s a checklist to help you provide the love and care they deserve:

Create a Cozy Resting Spot: A soft, warm, and quiet space can help them relax and feel safe.

Stick to Familiar Routines: Keeping consistent feeding, walking, and bedtime habits can offer a sense of security and normalcy.

Offer Gentle Massages: Lightly rub their favorite areas to soothe their muscles and show your love.

Provide Easy Access to Essentials: Place food, water, and toys within reach so they don’t have to strain or move unnecessarily.

Minimize Physical Strain: If they’re struggling with mobility, consider ramps or supportive harnesses to help them move comfortably.

Monitor for Discomfort: Stay attuned to signs of pain or distress, and don’t hesitate to consult your vet for support or adjustments.

These small but meaningful actions can make a world of difference in ensuring your pet’s comfort and dignity during this tender time. 💔

If you’re navigating this difficult journey, know that you’re not alone—we’re here to help with compassionate care and guidance every step of the way. ❤️🌈

During your pet’s final days, every moment counts. Here are some heartfelt ways to create lasting memories and celebrate their life:

Take Special Photos: Capture moments that show the bond you share—whether it’s cuddling, playing, or simply resting together.

Create a Paw Print Keepsake: Press their paw into clay or ink to create a tangible memory that you can cherish forever.

Make a Memory Video: Record a short video of them doing their favorite activities or simply being in your company.

Write a Letter: Pour your heart out in a letter to your pet, expressing your love and gratitude for their companionship.

Enjoy Favorite Activities: Take them on a final walk to their favorite park, or offer their favorite treat to create a joyful experience.

Create a Memory Box: Collect mementos like collars, toys, or photos, and store them in a special box that reminds you of the beautiful moments you shared.

These small acts of love can help you honor your pet’s memory and provide comfort in the days ahead. 💜

Remember, we’re here to support you with compassion and care during this emotional journey. 🌟
