The GCFA hosts this fun-filled party to thank all our members, friends and all our volunteers for everything you do throughout the year. The shelter exists because of the generosity of each and every one of you.

All your ferrets are invited. We will have some fun, ferret games - tube races, paper bag escape, and kissing contest. Last but not least, start thinking about how to dress your ferret for our costume contest!

We will have the GCFA’s fabulous raffle of wonderful ferret items, plus some great items for human creatures too.

There will be a potluck luncheon. If you like, please bring your favorite, yummy food items to share. GCFA will supply refreshments.

There will also be a wide variety of ferrety items for your shopping pleasure. You must have something under the tree for your ferrets!!!!

Please remember, your ferrets must be current on distemper vaccine to attend the party.

On June 6th we had a small fire at the GCFA caused by an old light fixture in the bathroom. *All of our ferrets are safe and unharmed!* 🙏🏼

We were incredibly fortunate that our volunteer Michelle was present when it caught fire. Tragedy was averted thanks to her quick actions. We are eternally grateful to Michelle, our board member Rhonda and her daughter Mia who also rushed to the scene to help, and the Lyons Fire Department ❤️❤️❤️

The ferrets were evacuated while the smoke was clearing. We had some coughing but fortunately none of them required hospitalization.

The damage to the building was contained to the bathroom. We had already felt pressure to move due to our landlord’s plans to retire and sell the building and have been searching for a new property for over a year now with no luck. This event has put even more urgency on our relocation plans. Unfortunately as a non-profit animal shelter it has been incredibly difficult to work around zoning restrictions and unwilling landlords, and to find a property that’s suitable, safe, and within our budget.

We need your help. If you know of any properties or commercial realtors that could be suitable for us, please send a message. Moving will be expensive and we would appreciate any donation large or small. It will also require a large volunteer effort. Some of our volunteers enjoyed the day at yesterday! Of course our first stop was to visit the river otter (aka water ferret) 🦦

We are so grateful for each and every one of our volunteers. We wouldn’t be able to rescue and rehome hundreds of ferrets every year without you! ❤️ and being able to support another local animal non-profit was just a bonus
