What's something your furbaby does that's just The Cutest?!
Every time I'm watering the garden, or when the kids are playing in the sprinkler, Ivy LOVES to drink the water spraying out. I just think it's the absolute cutest! ๐๐
Our four month old pup Ivy and the kids loved their pup time today. These pups are now exhausted!!
Crate training is an effective way to teach your puppy good behaviors and give them a sense of security and comfort. Here are the steps to follow for crate training your puppy:
Choose the right size crate: The crate should be large enough for your puppy to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably. If the crate is too big, your puppy may be tempted to use one side as a bathroom and the other side as a sleeping area.
Introduce the crate gradually: Start by placing the crate in a room where your puppy spends most of their time, with the door open. Encourage your puppy to explore the crate by placing treats and toys inside. Allow them to enter and exit the crate freely.
Use positive reinforcement: When your puppy enters the crate voluntarily, offer lots of praise and treats. This will help them associate the crate with positive experiences.
Close the door: Once your puppy is comfortable going in and out of the crate, try closing the door for a few minutes while you are in the room with them. Gradually increase the amount of time the door is closed, while you stay nearby.
Gradually increase the duration: Once your puppy is comfortable being in the crate with the door closed, start leaving them alone in the crate for short periods, gradually increasing the duration. Make sure to give them a chew toy or treat to keep them occupied.
Use the crate for sleep and relaxation: Once your puppy is comfortable spending time in the crate, use it for naps and bedtime. This will help them develop good sleeping habits and feel safe and secure.
Remember, crate training should be a gradual process that takes time and patience. If your puppy shows signs of distress or anxiety, slow down and take a step back in the training process. With consistency and positive reinforcement, your puppy will learn to love their crate and see it as a safe and comfortable space.
