It certainly speaks well of Enith that she is mentioned repeatedly by volunteers as a delight! Enith is just about a year old, engaging, friendly and playful. Enith's siblings, Boris, Czar, Arlo and Danya have all found forever homes ( many, many thanks to the adopters and Garfield's Rescue) and now Enith is hoping to be next! . Enith has won the hearts of our volunteers and staff but now she is looking for her one and only, her true human love who will give her a forever home. This would be one very cute face to greet you each day. Enith has been spayed through the generosity of A.W.L of the Northern Neck. Thank you, A.W.L! This lovely girl will add some love and joyful energy to your life. We will be delighted to introduce her. You can spend time in our cat room getting to know sweet Enith. Northumberland County Animal Shelter is open Monday 11:00 to 3:00, Thursday 11:00 to 3:00 and Saturday 11:00 to 2:00. It's possible to schedule a meet and greet at another time by calling the shelter at 804 580 6156 to set a time, leaving a message if there is no answer. If you have fallen in love with Enith, or any of our other kitties or pups, already you can submit an adoption application ahead of time. Our paperwork is on our website www friendsncas.org You'll find pictures of more of our dogs and cats for adoption on our website as well! If you are looking for a day brightener, our shelter kitties have their own instagram page by one of our wonderful volunteers, Stacy www.instagram.com/catsofncas

While we are focusing on Regulus , affectionately known as Reggie, we want to share this fun picture one of our fabulous volunteeers, Cathy, took! Both Cathy and another dedicated volunteer, Jen, have had Reggie out for lovely adventures and outings! Here Reggie is doing errands with Cathy, seeing and being seen! ( He is taking the shopping very seriously) Reggie is a wonderful fellow with a stunningly handsome head and attentive gaze. Reggie so enjoys attention and affection. Even when he is in a play yard and those in the other yards are doing their thing with silly antics or athletic moves Reggie's preference is one of his human buddies spending time with him. This cute boy is about two and a half years old. He makes a lot of eye contact and wants to please. Reggie has had outings with two volunteers whose hearts he has captured and he did beautifully. He was out and about meeting new people. He rode in the car well and was a gentleman in stores. Reggie tries hard to keep a clean kennel. He currently is working on not being quite so enthusiastic about taking treats! He learns quickly. Reggie is going to be a loving, connected and loyal companion when he finds his human love match. PLEASE DON'T MISS THE PREVIOUS POST WITH MORE PICTURES OF HANDSOME REGGIE!

Let's Give All Pets Responsible, Loving Homes

It’s not easy to think about the number of pets dying every year in animal shelters.

It’s even worse to realize that most of these dogs and cats die simply because shelters don't have resources to accommodate them. They are not sick. They do not have behavioral issues.

The Northern Neck county shelter staff go above-and-beyond to work with rescue groups to save as many pets as they can. This is a difficult, agonizing task in the face of over-crowded shelters and too many needy animals.

The time is NOW to provide a private facility to house and care for pets who cannot help themselves.
