BBQ Season Dangers
As the fireworks begin to light up the sky and the smell of barbecue fills the air, it's easy to get caught up in the excitement of July 4th celebrations. However, July 4th can bring increased risk for dogs.

While many of us enjoy indulging in rich, fatty foods during holiday gatherings, these same treats can spell disaster for our canine friends. Foods like barbecue scraps, fatty meats, and even certain condiments can trigger pancreatitis in dogs, especially when consumed in large quantities or in combination with other high-fat foods.

3 Easy Tips to Help Keep Your Pets Safe
1
Avoid Table Scraps: Resist the temptation to share your holiday feast with your dog, and remind guests to do the same. Stick to your pet's regular diet to avoid upsetting their sensitive stomachs.
2
Provide a Safe Haven: Create a quiet, comfortable space indoors where your dog can retreat from the noise and excitement of the festivities and exercise caution with fireworks.
3
Know the Signs: Familiarize yourself with the symptoms of pancreatitis in dogs, including vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and abdominal pain and seek veterinary care immediately.
