Golden Oldies Cat Rescue We re-home cats ages 6 and older from guardians and shelters in Monterey County, California. We are 100 percent foster-based. We were founded in June 2016.

Golden Oldies Cat Rescue was founded by a small group of cat lovers committed to saving lives. We believe that every life has value, even cats who are entering -- or who are already in -- their "golden years." Our mission is to re-home older cats in Monterey County whose guardians can no longer care for them, or those who are at risk in local shelters. We place these cats in temporary foster homes

and then find permanent loving homes for them, enriching the lives of both the cats and their new humans.

🌟 Meet Our Golden Oldies Seeking Their Forever Homes! 🌟

These sweet cats are looking for loving families to call their own. Each of them has a heart full of love to give, and they’re ready to find a special place in your home. Check out their adorable personalities below!

Merlin (10, Male) – This handsome gentleman is a people-lover who enjoys being brushed, keeping you company, and warming your bed at night. Merlin is hoping for a quiet forever home with someone who appreciates his affectionate nature. He does require a urinary diet to stay healthy.

Ginger (7, Female) – A snuggly, playful tortoiseshell who loves cuddling, being brushed, and showing her love. Ginger is a lap cat at heart and would be happy in a home with or without other pets. She’s also recently had a dental cleaning and is ready to go!

Vie (6, Female) – This sweet torbie loves attention and petting. Vie is great with other cats and even dogs! She’s looking for a forever home where she can be showered with love, and would thrive with another cat, especially her friend KC.

KC (7, Female) – A shy but affectionate calico who enjoys gentle petting and a calm home. KC warms up quickly and loves to be around her people. She may also do well with another cat in her new family.

Precious (13, Female) – This calm, sweet lady loves head, cheek, and butt scratches and has the cutest thumbs. Precious enjoys curling up next to her people and has a playful side when it comes to catnip toys. She’s ready for a peaceful home where she can relax and make biscuits!

Max (9, Male) – A confident, playful brown tabby who loves toys, attention, and being with his people. Max is adjusting to life after some big changes and would love a family who will give him the love and care he deserves. He’d do well with another easygoing cat.

Meet magical Merlin! Merlin is a friendly and handsome 10 year old gentleman of a cat who loves people, being pet by people, being brushed, keeping you company and warming your bed at night. Merlin was surrendered to a local shelter when his guardian had to move into a living situation that was unable to include him. Now he’s safe in the Golden Oldies program. Merlin is a mid-western boy at heart, having originally moved to California from Nebraska. He’s hoping his next move won’t be quite as far. He has lived with other cats in the past but may be picky about his cat friends. He’d probably be just fine with respectful kids. Merlin does require a urinary diet to help keep him healthy and happy. Can you make the magic happen for Merlin and give him his forever home? He’s ready to meet you!

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Ginger has already had at least two homes at just seven years old. Help us find her forever home! Ginger lost her most recent home due to her guardians' housing insecurity. Ginger is friendly and has lived with kids, dogs and other cats. She would be fine being your one and only pet too. She is a beautiful short haired, dark tortoiseshell. Ginger is affectionate, likes to snuggle in/on bed with you, likes to be brushed and is a lap cat. She can be playful and is an indoor only cat that would love to meet you. Ginger just had her teeth cleaned and is a healthy cat.
After less than 24 hours in her foster home, her foster had this to say, "She ate all her food, has jumped up on the couch to rub my arm, loves being petted and is purring away! What an easy going girl she is!"

Ginger is being fostered in Carmel Valley

ADOPT NOW!

6yr old, short hair torbie "Vie" pronounced Vee, is adjusting quickly to life in her foster home. This pretty cat was surrendered to a local shelter due to family upheaval, but has kept a sunny outlook, knowing her next loving family will adopt her soon. She loves petting and attention from her people and has lived peacefully with other cats and reportedly with dogs too. The one thing she would love more would be to live in her forever home with you. She was surrendered to the shelter with her friend, 7 yr old "KC", and they would make a great pair if you are looking to adopt two cats.

KC is a beautiful 7yr old calico who came to us from a local shelter recently. She was in a community cat room with other cats, including her cat friend "Vie". With a proper introduction she may do well having a cat friend in her new home. Understandably a little shy at first, KC warms right up with gentle pets and a calm touch. She enjoys being with people and is sweet and affectionate.

Both are being fostered in Salinas

PLEASE share KC and Vie's story

Our Story

Golden Oldies Cat Rescue was founded by a small group of cat lovers committed to saving lives. We believe that every life has value, even cats who are entering -- or who are already in -- their "golden years." Our mission is to re-home cats 6 and older from Monterey County whose guardians can no longer care for them or those who are at risk in local shelters. We place these cats in temporary foster homes and then find permanent loving homes for them, enriching the lives of both the cats and their new humans. We do not take ferals or other strays, and cats must use a litter box. We do not take cats from outside of Monterey County. We are 100 percent foster-based and do not have an office. We are primarily volunteer-driven. We were founded in June 2016.

If you are interested in volunteering, fostering or adopting -- or need more information on our surrender process -- please call us at 831-200-9700, email us at [email protected] or visit our website at www.gocatrescue.org.
